Maintaining growth momentum for 2026

With many efforts to overcome difficulties, the socio-economic "picture" of Dong Nai province in 2025 is nearly completed with many outstanding bright spots. GRDP in the fourth quarter increased by 10.73%, ranking 4th in the country, helping the province's annual growth increase by 9.63% compared to 2024, exceeding the Government's target by 1.13 percentage points (8.5%). 2025 is also the year Dong Nai province achieved the highest growth rate in many years.

The province's socio -economic development and national defense and security achievements in 2025 are very encouraging. This also serves as a foundation and driving force for the province to be determined to achieve even stronger growth, confidently reaching double-digit growth in 2026.

The results of the effort

After years of economic growth slowing due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic and the global economic recession, 2025 witnessed a vibrant and strong resurgence of Dong Nai's economy. The entire political system of the province overcame difficulties and pressures while simultaneously streamlining the administrative apparatus and focusing on socio-economic development, maintaining national defense and security, and ensuring efficiency and effectiveness. Many shortcomings and limitations of the previous system, especially the tendency to shirk responsibility and avoid mistakes among some officials, particularly those in leadership positions, have been overcome thanks to the streamlining process and the rational selection and placement of personnel.

Although a retired official, Mr. Nguyen Van Phuong (residing in Ward 1, Trang Dai Commune) still closely follows the socio-economic development of the province and the country through newspapers, radio, and social media. Mr. Phuong shared: "I am very happy that Dong Nai achieved a growth rate of 9.63% in 2025, even though this target was considered very difficult at the beginning of the year, especially given the current situation of restructuring the administrative apparatus while focusing on economic development." Mr. Phuong expressed confidence: "With the current strength and momentum, if the province continues to develop further, Dong Nai will certainly achieve even better results in 2026, because a series of key national projects will soon be put into operation, and many new projects are preparing to start construction."

Ms. Doan Thi Thu Thao, owner of a freight transport business in Long Thanh commune, expressed her excitement: "I have never seen the central government invest so heavily in Dong Nai's transportation infrastructure as it is now, especially in 2025. The province's transportation systems are developing rapidly and taking shape very clearly. For example, Long Thanh International Airport is preparing to welcome its first flight; the Bien Hoa - Vung Tau Expressway project, after many years of difficulties in land clearance, is now nearing completion. Transportation businesses are even more delighted that transportation projects connecting with Ho Chi Minh City will soon be completed."

Mr. Do Huy Khanh, Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Council of Phuoc An commune, and National Assembly representative of Dong Nai province, said: When officially starting to operate under the two-tiered local government model, the system faced certain difficulties, and initially, officials and civil servants inevitably had some concerns. However, after more than 5 months of operation under the new model, the commune's system has truly been running smoothly, efficiently, and effectively. Tasks that were initially considered new and difficult are now mostly familiar to officials and civil servants, especially having overcome the initial psychological pressure.

Take advantage of new opportunities

According to scientists from the Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics, which is collaborating on the development of socio-economic policies for Dong Nai province, 2026 is projected to be another year of strong new economic and social development impetus for Dong Nai. This forecast is highly feasible, with one of the most important "bottlenecks" being the unprecedented development of high-quality transportation infrastructure. Transportation is a key advantage for Dong Nai in attracting further investment in the coming years.

Typical examples include the "mega-project" Long Thanh International Airport, which is scheduled to welcome its first flight on December 19th and may immediately begin phase 2. The Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3 project and the Bien Hoa - Vung Tau Expressway project are preparing for technical opening, while the Ben Luc - Long Thanh Expressway could be fully open by 2026, when the Phuoc Khanh cable-stayed bridge (the final component of this expressway) connecting Dong Nai and Ho Chi Minh City is completed. The Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway Expansion Project is also expected to be largely completed by the end of 2026.

Provincial Party Committee member and Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ho Van Ha stated: 2025 witnessed outstanding efforts in land clearance for key projects, especially the Bien Hoa - Vung Tau expressway, which was a very challenging project. In 2026, the province will continue to strengthen its direction of land clearance for a series of new projects such as: the Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 4 passing through Dong Nai province, and provincial roads connecting to Long Thanh International Airport. The province has also prepared clean land for the early commencement of construction of new bridges connecting to Ho Chi Minh City such as: Dong Nai 2 Bridge, Phu My 2 Bridge, Cat Lai Bridge, and urban railway lines…

Deputy Prime Minister TRAN HONG HA:

Dong Nai must be ready to welcome new generation investors.

After the completion of a series of key infrastructure projects in Dong Nai and their connection to Ho Chi Minh City, the province will welcome many new and truly breakthrough development opportunities. Infrastructure is also the resource that will enable Dong Nai to achieve continuous double-digit growth for many years to come, making a significant contribution to the overall development of the country. Therefore, Dong Nai province must prepare the necessary conditions regarding land, policies and mechanisms, administrative reforms, and strong digital transformation to welcome new-generation investors with high technological content and high added value.

The socio-economic development and national defense and security plan for Dong Nai province in 2026 has been meticulously prepared by the Provincial People's Committee to be submitted to the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial People's Council at the end-of-year session in 2025. A highlight of this plan is eight economic development targets, including a very important one: a 10% growth rate of GRDP at constant prices in 2026, a gross regional product (GRDP) of approximately VND 750.6 trillion at current prices, and a GRDP per capita of VND 179.2 million at current prices. In 2026, Dong Nai aims for the digital economy's added value to reach 15-17% of the GRDP, while also seeing the establishment of 7,200 new businesses.
