“Help others, joy and happiness will come to you”

After many years of volunteering, young man Hoang Ngoc Son (born 1998, Cuong Gian commune, Nghi Xuan, Ha Tinh ) has called on benefactors to support over 1 billion VND, helping many unfortunate people overcome difficulties.

Young man Hoang Ngoc Son has had many meaningful activities to help people in difficult circumstances.

We met Hoang Ngoc Son (born in 1998) when he was handing out gifts from donors to support disadvantaged people in Cuong Gian commune. Son talked about his chance to start volunteering, saying: “In 2017, when I was a student at the Hanoi Academy of Theatre and Cinema, I was lucky to join the Hanoi Loving Land Club. The volunteer group regularly has activities to support children at the SOS Children's Village Hanoi. Every time I met them, seeing them smile made me extremely happy. I wished I could do more meaningful things to support them. And when I returned to my hometown, I had the opportunity to meet Mr. Tran Van Hau - Head of Thien Tam Cuong Gian group, listening to him share his experiences and participating with him in volunteer trips, I wanted even more to find a way to help those in unfortunate circumstances.”

In 2019, Son set foot in Japan to do business . With his heart always turned towards the disadvantaged in society, Son established the Ha Tinh Fellow Countrymen Association in Japan. From here, Son called for support for 15 disadvantaged people, implemented Mid-Autumn Festival programs for children of SOS Village, supported floods in the Central region, supported the fight against COVID-19, called for support for families whose relatives had unfortunate accidents in Japan... with an amount of nearly 700 million VND.

Returning home at the end of 2022, Son continued his meaningful journey. Whenever he heard of unfortunate and difficult lives, Son struggled to find ways to help. In May 2023, when Hoang Ngoc Thanh in Nam Moi village, Cuong Gian commune, who was working in Japan, unfortunately had an accident, broke both legs and crushed bones, and had a large treatment cost, Son stood up to call for help from groups such as: Ha Tinh Fellow Countrymen Association in Japan, Nghi Xuan fanpage, personal Facebook page... After 12 days of calling for kind-hearted people in the country and those working in Korea and Japan, Son raised more than 174 million VND to give to Thanh's family with the hope of providing some support during the family's difficult times.

Mr. Hoang Ngoc Tu - Hoang Ngoc Thanh's father was moved: "Thanh unfortunately had an accident, hospitalization required a lot of expenses, the family was in financial difficulty so they did not know where to turn. Luckily, in the time of trouble, the benefactors that Son called for helped the family somewhat."

In 2023, Hoang Ngoc Son called on benefactors to support more than 350 million VND to give to many families in trouble, poor students overcoming difficulties, and to accompany students during exam season...

Sharing the “secret” to calling for help from the community, Son said: “For difficult circumstances, after receiving information, I ask for a specific address to directly go and learn more and connect with local authorities to better understand this situation. After that, I post on my personal Facebook and fanpages, community groups that I am working on and connect with donors, businesses or volunteers. When giving the support money to families, I do it publicly, record information clearly, and transparently report to donors.”

Son is working for a company operating in the field of studying abroad and exporting labor.

Son is currently working for a study abroad and labor export company. His plan is that when his job is more stable, he will continue to spend time connecting with more sponsors to help more people. “I am just a small link connecting generous donors and kind hearts to those in need. Every time I help someone, I always feel happy, my life becomes more meaningful and I have more motivation to continue on my volunteer journey. Helping others, giving love and sharing will bring joy and happiness to me,” Son expressed.

With his meaningful humanitarian work, Hoang Ngoc Son was recently recognized by the Vietnam Volunteer Community as receiving the "Youth Contributing to the Community 2023" award (the honoring and awarding ceremony is expected to take place on January 27, 2024 - PV).

Hoang Ngoc Son is a young man in the commune who regularly participates in many charity activities and has helped many difficult situations in the locality. Son's work has partly helped the locality do a good job in social security, helping families improve their lives.
