Accordingly, this year, the whole city has more than 106,000 students registering their first choice to enter public grade 10; more than 102,000 candidates registering their second choice and more than 64,000 candidates registering their third choice.
Based on the quota and number of students registered, students can know the "competition ratio" to enter each school. However, this ratio is only a reference figure among many other factors to evaluate the level of competition to enter schools.
According to the recently released data, the top schools in the admissions areas all have a "competition ratio" of 1/2.0 -1/2.5. Some schools have a high competition ratio, in which the majority register for the first choice, such as Yen Hoa High School with a total of 2,207 registrations, of which the first choice is 2,097, with a quota of 675, a competition ratio of 1/3.2.
Many middle-ranking schools have a high total number of registrations but are concentrated in the second choice such as Tay Ho High School, Khuong Dinh, Ngoc Hoi...
But some schools that have been in the top 2 for many years in terms of the number of second-choice registrations, such as Doan Ket - Hai Ba Trung High School and Quang Trung - Dong Da High School, have seen a significant decrease this year.
According to the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, in the 2024-2025 school year, about 110,000 students will apply for public grade 10, of which the target for public grade 10 is about 81,000 students (61%).
The rest will attend private schools, continuing education programs or vocational schools in the area.
The entrance exam for grade 10 public schools in Hanoi will take place on June 8 and 9 (non-specialized students). Students taking the exam for specialized students and dual degree programs will take an additional exam on June 10 and 11.
