Summer is coming to an end, but the passion for travel of Vietnamese tourists has not yet cooled down as the National Day holiday on September 2nd - the last long holiday of the year - is approaching. According to data from the travel platform Booking.com on the travel demand of tourists during this period, it shows a diverse and harmonious combination of domestic exploration and international cultural experiences, reflecting tourists' interest in familiar journeys as well as new cultural adventures.
In particular, 2025 marks the 80th anniversary of Vietnam's National Day, making the long holiday more desirable than ever. Data shows that 41% of Vietnamese tourists expressed interest in traveling during the holidays, many of whom see this as an ideal opportunity to reward themselves with a memorable trip.
Data from Booking.com shows the most searched-for holiday destinations this year (29 August to 3 September 2025)* – ranging from intimate domestic itineraries to colourful international getaways – all driven by the desire to relax, connect with loved ones and experience new cultures.
During the National Day holiday on September 2 this year, many tourists are interested in culturally rich places, of which the capital Hanoi with its commemorative activities receives the most attention.
The most searched domestic destinations during this year’s holiday season reflect the diversity of Vietnamese people’s travel preferences: from vibrant cultural and historical centers to peaceful beaches and cool climates – there is something for everyone. This year’s National Day, Hanoi with its vibrant series of activities and festivals became the center of attention. With 31%** of tourists motivated to travel to participate in major and special events, it is no wonder that the capital rose to the top of the list of most searched domestic destinations, attracting everyone from individual travelers to families and groups of friends wanting to immerse themselves in the festive atmosphere.
While the capital city has become a destination for meaningful cultural experiences, Vietnam’s beaches remain a draw for travelers looking for a peaceful getaway. Da Nang – ranked second among the most searched domestic destinations – is famous for its clear blue skies and peaceful coastline, making it an ideal destination for both relaxation and adventure. Other destinations such as Nha Trang, Vung Tau, Hue, Hoi An, Phu Quoc and Mui Ne also make the list, each offering its own appeal for a sun-filled vacation.
Along with the beaches, Da Lat is also ranked third in the list of most searched domestic destinations this holiday season. With 56%* of Vietnamese tourists planning a trip close to nature this year, Da Lat will be the perfect choice thanks to its cool atmosphere and diverse outdoor entertainment activities. Meanwhile, Ho Chi Minh City ranked fifth, offering a unique experience with a vibrant lifestyle, entertainment spots suitable for the whole family and special cultural programs.
The 10 domestic destinations that many tourists are looking for this time include: Hanoi, Da Nang, Da Lat, Nha Trang, Ho Chi Minh City, Vung Tau, Hue, Hoi An, Phu Quoc and Mui Ne.
