Simple happiness

The sound of the sewing machine combined with the rhythm of her hands has become familiar to Ms. Le Thi Truong Thanh, a worker on line 5, MSV Company Limited. After nearly 13 years working on the production line, for her, each working day is a meaningful journey. “Having a job, an income, and good health is happiness for me,” she smiled gently.

That happiness seemed to be multiplied when recently, Ms. Thanh was honored as one of the 26 “Excellent Workers” of the company. With this achievement, Ms. Thanh received a cash reward of 500,000 VND and an increase of 300,000 VND in her basic monthly salary. This is the sweet fruit of her silent efforts over the years. In Ms. Thanh’s hands, which are familiar with needles and threads, that joy quietly spreads into motivation, so that every day when she comes to the factory, she feels happy with the simple things of working, contributing and being recognized.

At the manufacturing maintenance department of MSV Company Limited, Mr. Duong Duy The Tai, a technical worker, finds his happiness from seemingly soulless machine parts. For him, every time an initiative is realized, every time he sees his colleagues no longer having to work hard to cut fabric edges by hand, his heart is filled with joy.

From the fabric softener that had to be imported, Mr. Tai has redesigned it with 90% of the details being localized. He also developed an automatic edge cutting system, helping workers save hours of labor each day and the company save hundreds of millions of dong each year.

He said: “I don’t think about making achievements. Just seeing the workers less tired and the machines running smoothly is enough to make me happy. But when I am commended, get a raise, and am trusted with a key position, I tell myself to try harder.” Mr. Tai is one of the few workers honored by the Hue City Labor Federation in the movements “Good workers, creative workers” and “Studying and following Uncle Ho’s teachings”.

At Hue Textile and Garment Joint Stock Company, Ms. Nguyen Thi Oanh, Line Manager of Sewing Factory 1, feels very happy because of the trust of the company. From a pure sewing worker, she has become an innovator in improving the process, helping to shorten the production time for each sewing line by up to 30%. "Before, I just thought that doing a good job was enough. But when I was given the opportunity to try my hand at the skills competition, I discovered that I could also think of new ways to do things, helping the whole team" - she emotionally shared.

For Ms. Oanh, happiness is also when she wakes up in the morning, knowing that she still has work today, that the production line is still waiting for her. Happiness is when she finishes work, walks out of the factory gate with a relieved mood because the working day has gone smoothly. It is a simple but full shift meal, it is the crisp laughter when working overtime together to meet orders. Happiness is also when the company organizes birthday parties right at the factory, among colleagues who are as close as family.

Union and enterprise together

The happiness of workers cannot be separated from the companionship of enterprises and trade unions. Over the past years, the Labor Federation at all levels and enterprises in Hue city have continuously improved the working environment, supported workers in settling down, built kindergartens and improved their spiritual life. Mr. Furuta Shinya, General Director of MSV Company Limited affirmed: “We consider workers as the most valuable asset. When workers have a good life, they will work with a more comfortable spirit and higher productivity”. The title “Excellent Worker” has been applied by the company for the past 3 years, aiming to encourage the sense of responsibility, creativity and commitment of workers.

Not only stopping at salary and bonus policies, many enterprises also focus on creating a friendly working environment, where each worker feels listened to and appreciated. Free trips , collective birthday parties held right at the factory, with small gifts and warm wishes have become a unique cultural feature at Hue Textile and Garment Joint Stock Company.

Mr. Nguyen Tien Hau, Deputy General Director of Hue Textile and Garment Joint Stock Company, said: “There are workers who celebrate their birthdays for the first time in their lives. Those emotional tears are the clearest proof of the value that the company is aiming for. That is to build a humane environment, where workers are the center.” From 2025, Hue Textile and Garment Joint Stock Company will continue to adjust overtime hours, not exceeding one hour per day and at least two days a week, workers can go home before 4:30 p.m. to improve the quality of life and balance work and family while still ensuring income for workers.

In the journey to cultivate happiness for workers, key programs of "Workers' Month", "Union Shelter", "Union Member Wish", periodic dialogues, emergency support... of trade unions at all levels in the city have become a solid support for thousands of workers in recent times.

Taking us to visit the new house, Mr. Truong Van Thiet, a worker at Vitto Hue Company Limited, confided: “The day I received the decision to receive 40 million VND in support from the City Labor Federation to start the construction of the “Union Shelter”, I was really moved. My husband and I are workers, buying a piece of land is difficult, building a house is even more difficult. Thanks to this valuable support, we have more motivation to borrow more money to realize our dream of settling down. Now my husband and I can work with peace of mind and take care of our children's education.”

Ms. Tran Thi Minh Nguyet, Permanent Vice President of the Hue City Labor Federation, affirmed that the union is not only a place to protect the rights but also a spiritual support for workers: “We identify that comprehensive care for workers, both materially and spiritually, is the most practical way to contribute to building a happy, committed and sustainable workforce with businesses. Every year, tens of thousands of union members and workers are cared for and supported by the Labor Federations at all levels in the city with a total value of tens of billions of VND.”
