Binh Dien identifies that people are the key to bringing the locality to rapid and sustainable development.

Wide open space for development

After merging from 3 communes of Huong Binh, Binh Tien, Binh Thanh, the new Binh Dien commune has an area of 266.84km² and more than 15,000 people; helping to expand the development space of the locality, creating a connected and continuous socio -economic space.

Specifically, the 32-hectare Binh Thanh industrial cluster, once operational, will open up a direction for the development of small-scale handicrafts, especially in the processing of locally abundant planted forest wood. The 90-hectare golf course resort, part of Binh Dien, promises to create a boost for high-end services. The rich agricultural and forestry resources - from rubber, fruit trees, medicinal plants - combined with the potential for aquaculture on the hydroelectric reservoir will open up opportunities to form a closed agricultural - processing - tourism value chain.

National Highway 49 runs through the center, connecting the border gate to Laos and A Luoi communes with Hue City, forming the traffic “backbone”. The presence of a system of streams, hydroelectric reservoirs, mountain and forest landscapes interspersed with fruit orchards… in the area creates an ideal ecological picture for developing experiential tourism .

In the period of 2021 - 2025, Binh Dien commune's economy achieved a high growth rate, an average of about 13.5%. Up to this point, agriculture is still developing in a positive direction (rubber 876ha, average income 70 million VND/ha/year; production forest area 3,533.5ha, average income 15 - 20 million VND/ha/year; fruit trees 160ha, average income 50 - 60 million VND/ha/year); service industries are quite diverse; infrastructure is invested and upgraded. Total social investment in 5 years is estimated at 820.8 billion VND. By 2025, the average income will reach 50 million VND/person/year.

Ecological urban "brand" Binh Dien

From these available potentials and advantages, Binh Dien aims to become an ecological urban area with a typical landscape of Hue by 2030, with a vision to 2035, aiming for rapid and sustainable development. “Binh Dien takes natural landscape as the core, harmoniously combining it with the development of tourism and typical services. In particular, priority is given to preserving and promoting the value of the ecosystem of forests, rivers, streams, lakes and dams, developing environmentally friendly tourism infrastructure, while focusing on promoting economic restructuring towards “Services - Industry, handicrafts - Agriculture” associated with innovation of the growth model”, said Mr. Tran Xuan Anh - Chairman of the Commune People's Committee.

Tri Thien Hue Party Committee Tunnels (National Historical Site) is both a "red address" and a destination in eco-tourism tours in Binh Dien.

From the potential of space and culture, Binh Dien will develop natural eco-tourism services (develop trekking routes, hiking through forests, explore flora and fauna; experience rivers, lakes, waterfalls and streams); eco-agricultural tourism (develop fruit gardens of pomelo, grapefruit, orange, pineapple, strawberry, vegetable and flower growing models... combined with experiencing the cultivation and harvesting process); community tourism to learn about the traditional culture of ethnic minorities.

Based on the planning, Binh Dien forms a multi-purpose land fund to develop quality services such as homestay (budget accommodation), glamping (romantic camping), farmstay (resort farm)... Encourage and call for investment in forming a number of high-quality beverage and food service points...; develop specialized areas for growing valuable fruit trees, farms, livestock farms; aquaculture on hydroelectric reservoirs...

“Taking Huu Trach River, Binh Dien and Huong Dien hydroelectric reservoirs as “axes”, Binh Dien will plan urban areas along rivers and lakes, with architecture in harmony with the landscape, dedicating large areas to public spaces: walking paths, bicycle paths, green parks - the “lungs” of the region. Agricultural areas will be transformed into “agricultural parks” combined with experiential tourism.

Regarding architecture, priority will be given to environmentally friendly constructions and materials, promoting the preservation of indigenous culture (such as the Pa Hy ethnic folk song club), linking with resort services, forming a harmonious development model between economy and ecology. Binh Dien market will become a wholesale market for agricultural products in the west of Hue city,” Mr. Tran Xuan Anh informed.

Breakthrough solution

Mr. Le Nhat Minh - Secretary of the Party Committee of Binh Dien commune said that in the roadmap to realize the goal of building Binh Dien to develop in the direction of an ecological urban area with typical landscapes of Hue city, the locality identifies people as the key.

From this spirit, Binh Dien is determined to build a team of "6 dares": "Dare to think, dare to speak, dare to do, dare to innovate, dare to face difficulties and challenges, and be resolute in action for the common good", as well as maintain internal solidarity, considering strengthening the strength of the political system and the consensus of the people as prerequisites.

From the above determinations, it can be seen that building Binh Dien into an ecological urban area is not an orientation “on paper”, but a commitment and determination of the government to the people to create a green, safe and unique living space. The journey of 5 years or 10 years is just a timeline, the decisive thing here is that Binh Dien has a clear vision and feasible solutions.

Binh Dien is urgently reviewing and adjusting the planning, promoting investment in tourism - service infrastructure, developing the connecting traffic system and implementing the program of concreting rural roads. Site clearance for strategic projects is also carried out in parallel with the formation of diverse tourism products: From trekking, hiking, exploring rivers - waterfalls and lakes, to eco-agricultural tourism, homestay, glamping, farmstay. Destinations such as Khe Day, Gee Garden, Ami Garden, streams or community tourism area of village 2... will be planned into typical tourism products, harmonizing indigenous culture and natural beauty.
