After the merger, Binh Duong General Hospital became the largest hospital in Ho Chi Minh City with an area of 16 hectares and a scale of 1,500 beds.
Construction began in 2014 and by 2025, the hospital has been approved with a total investment of more than 4,500 billion VND.
The construction of the hospital aims to facilitate people in the area and neighboring areas to access specialized examination, diagnosis and treatment services with high technology.
The project includes 7 component projects invested by Binh Duong Construction Investment Project Management Board (6 projects) and Binh Duong Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board (1 project).
However, after more than 10 years, it has not been put into use yet because the construction of component projects is slow and not completed synchronously, affecting the rights of patients to medical examination and treatment.
Tuoi Tre Online 's records show that the projects are still being constructed "drop by drop", although the main hospital building has been roofed for a long time but the surrounding area is overgrown with grass.
Meanwhile, at the existing Binh Duong General Hospital, patients and medical staff have to visit the facility in a state of disrepair and overload, making it difficult to ensure the quality of medical examination and treatment.
Everyone is looking forward to the 1,500-bed hospital project coming into operation soon.
According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health, as of the end of September 2025, out of a total of 7 new component projects, only 2 projects have been completed, 2 projects are under construction and 3 projects have not yet been implemented.
The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health has proposed that the Binh Duong Construction Investment Project Management Board speed up the progress of putting the 1,500-bed Binh Duong General Hospital project into operation in 2026.
Tuoi Tre Online 's source said that In June 2025, the People's Committee of Binh Duong province (old) concluded the inspection of the project implementation status of the 1,500-bed general hospital cluster.
The inspection shows that 5/5 projects are behind schedule and have to be extended many times (central technical block and funeral home, wastewater treatment plant for hospitals, overall technical infrastructure, medical equipment, etc.). These are all projects with complex components, requiring high expertise, technique and synchronization.
