After being released on April 26, "Lat Mat 7: Mot Giau" directed by Ly Hai quickly earned record-high revenue. According to Box Office Vietnam, the film's revenue has now surpassed 430 billion VND, surpassing "Bo Gia" to become the 3rd highest-grossing film at the Vietnamese box office.
To increase revenue in the final stage, the producer announced the film's highlight cuts on the Tik Tok pages "Lat Mat 7: Mot Giau Uoc" and "Moli.Cine", and revealed the process of processing effects and techniques in the film by Heta VFX Studio.
However, besides the compliments about the music , acting and content of the film, "Lat Mat 7: Mot Giau" was criticized a lot for its fake images and special effects.
In the scene where Mrs. Hai (played by Oanh Kieu) in her youth gives birth to her youngest child (Sau Tam), the baby's face in the film was composited from a real baby image into a 3D model.
This makes the baby's face look fake and scary. In the comments section, many viewers expressed feeling "shuddered" when watching.
In another scene, a leaf falls from a tree to the ground. In addition to the fact that the leaf is not realistic, "like a wig", the incongruity between the speed at which the leaf falls and the speed at which Mrs. Hai moves is also something that makes many people wonder.
Not stopping there, although Ly Hai invested carefully in the storm scene in My Tan, this detail was also "spotted" by the audience as being absurd and illogical. Many opinions said that with such strong winds, the boat could not just shake but must have completely capsized.
Below the comments section of the above video series, many people said that the film's special effects were too bad, far inferior to the special effects of other movies, even those that were released a long time ago, such as "Once Upon a Time" and "Tam Cam: The Untold Story".
The ease with which fake effects are easily recognized makes touching scenes less convincing, and even makes the audience "accidentally" laugh.
One of the opinions that many people agree with about the reason for the poor effects is that the film lacks budget. However, in reality, "Lat Mat 7: Mot Dieu Uoc" was invested with a large amount of capital by director Ly Hai. Therefore, many people believe that the problem lies in the skills and expertise of the effects team.
However, there are also opinions that refute this view. They believe that the Vietnamese special effects team is completely capable of creating beautiful effects, as demonstrated through international television and film series, such as the Hera Palace building in the movie "Penthouse: War in Life" or the special effects in the movie "Queen of Tears".
Overall, "Flip Side 7: A Wish" is a film with many bright spots, but the special effects are a regrettable minus point. Audiences expressed hope that, in the next projects, Ly Hai will invest more in special effects to bring the audience a better movie-watching experience.
