The match between Hai Phong and CAHN at Lach Tray Stadium heated up right from the first minutes. In the 15th minute, defender Dang Van Toi received a direct red card after retaliating against Thaileon from the away team.
Having to play with one less player early on, coach Chu Dinh Nghiem was forced to adjust his tactics. He took Van Minh off the field, replaced him with young defender Nhat Minh, and switched to a crowded defense. However, Hai Phong could not withstand the pressure from CAHN and lost 1-3, despite opening the scoring in the second half.
Sharing after the match, Coach Chu Dinh Nghiem expressed: “We played quite well in the first 15 minutes. If it weren’t for that red card, we could have played an open game with CAHN. That situation forced us to switch to a 4-4-1 formation to defend tightly.”
On the other side of the field, coach Mano Polking also admitted that the match was not easy for CAHN, even though they had one more player. The police team fell behind in the second half, before rising up and scoring three goals in a row to turn the game around.
“The key point was the red card for Hai Phong. But even when playing with one less player, they still took the lead. The turning point of the match was our equalizer, which helped the whole team play better and control the game," said coach Polking.
“After falling behind, we were under a lot of pressure. But the players kept their composure, controlled the game and deservedly won. I would also like to commend Hai Phong for fighting until the last minute,” coach Mano Polking continued.
With this result, Hai Phong officially stopped at the 2024/25 National Cup. Meanwhile, CAHN won the right to enter the semi-finals and will face The Cong Viettel in the next round.
