In preparation for the 2023 Asian Cup, Indonesia is training in Türkiye and here, they welcomed the appearance of doctor Choi Ju Young.
Dr. Choi Ju Young was a former assistant to Coach Park Hang-seo during the time the Korean coach accompanied Vietnamese football. According to Indonesian media, Dr. Choi joined the Indonesian team on a short-term contract, until the end of the 2023 Asian Cup. He will act as a physiotherapist for the team from the archipelago country during the tournament.
Mr. Choi is a famous sports doctor in Korea, once affectionately called a “miracle doctor” by Vietnamese football fans. Not only did he accompany coach Park Hang-seo in the Vietnamese national team, but before that, he was also named with Mr. Park in the assistant team of coach Hiddink to attend the 2002 World Cup.
The Indonesian team is currently training in Türkiye and will have two friendly matches against the Libyan team on January 2 and 5. These are two important friendlies for Indonesia ahead of the 2023 Asian Cup, a tournament in which they are in the same group with the teams of Japan, Iraq and Vietnam.
Indonesia is also a direct competitor with Vietnam in Group F of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers in Asia. Therefore, the upcoming match between the two teams at the 2023 Asian Cup is also worth paying attention to. For coach Shin, having Dr. Choi as an assistant is also very important because more or less, this doctor also has information about some of the current Vietnamese players.
