On the afternoon of December 18th, representatives from the Ho Chi Minh City Urban Railway Management Board (MAUR) announced that the unit had completed the relocation and connection of the 110kV high-voltage underground cable to serve the construction of the S2 - Tao Dan station of Metro Line 2 (Ben Thanh - Tham Luong Metro Line).

Metro Line 2 (Ben Thanh - Tham Luong) has an investment of nearly 47,900 billion VND and is over 11km long.

Metro Line 2 (Ben Thanh - Tham Luong) has an investment of nearly 47,900 billion VND and is over 11km long.

According to MAUR, land clearance and relocation of infrastructure affected by the project are crucial tasks to create a "clean" site to accelerate the construction progress of Metro Line 2.

In March 2024, MAUR began simultaneous construction at 12 station locations and open trench sections along the entire Metro Line 2 route, running parallel to Pham Hong Thai, Cach Mang Thang Tam, and Truong Chinh streets.

Specifically, the relocation and energization of the 110KV high-voltage underground cable affected by the project will take place at two locations: the S4 - Hoa Hung station area (part of the 110KV Tao Dan - Truong Dua and Tao Dan - Hoa Hung cable lines) and the S2 - Tao Dan station area (part of the 110KV Tao Dan - Ben Thanh cable line).

Specifically, at station S2 - Tao Dan (part of the 110KV Tao Dan - Ben Thanh cable line), the relocation of the 110KV high-voltage power lines has achieved significant results and progress.

" Currently, the contractor has completed the cable laying, connection, and testing according to the regulations of the electricity industry for inspection and approval by the Southern Power System Dispatch Center, and energized circuit 1 on December 14th. In addition, the contractor is still continuing to lay cables and connect circuit 2 to complete energization on December 24th, 2024," a representative of MUAR informed.

At station S4 - Hoa Hung, 390m of cable, consisting of 6 strands, needs to be relocated. Currently, the contractor is constructing the cable trench and connecting tunnel, and the cable laying is expected to be completed before December 26, 2024. The cable laying and electrical connection work is expected to be completed before January 20, 2025.

“This is a turning point, a significant milestone in the construction and relocation of the 110kV high-voltage power infrastructure affected by the project, contributing to increasing the project's capital disbursement value in 2024, drawing lessons learned, and handing over the site to the construction units to implement the project as planned,” said a representative of MAUR.

Metro Line 2 (Ben Thanh - Tham Luong) has an investment of nearly 47,900 billion VND, is over 11 km long, of which more than 9 km is underground, while the rest runs above ground, includes transition sections and depot access roads. This metro line passes through 6 districts: District 1, 3, 10, 12, Tan Binh District, and Tan Phu District, connecting the city center to the northwestern gateway.

The project, approved more than a decade ago and undergoing several revisions, is now expected to be completed in 2030.
