VTC NewsVTC News23/12/2024

Finding a field of study that offers good job opportunities after four years of university is a concern for many young people.

Currently, universities nationwide offer training in a wide range of disciplines, professions, and fields. So, if you want to avoid unemployment in the future, which major should you choose?

Medicine, Pharmacy, Nursing

Currently, the Vietnamese healthcare sector needs to recruit approximately 55,000 doctors, 10,000 pharmacists, and 65,000 medical technicians. Therefore, the demand for human resources in the healthcare sector will continue to increase sharply in the future.

An article on the Dai Nam University website quotes Associate Professor Hoang Duc Hanh, former Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Health, as saying: “As society develops, the demand for healthcare and health protection is increasing. People are more proactive in having regular health check-ups and using the best medical services. These are fundamental factors leading to the inevitable development of the healthcare sector in the future.”

If you are passionate about this field of study, you can refer to the admission information of some universities such as: Hanoi Medical University, University of Medicine and Pharmacy (Vietnam National University, Hanoi), University of Medicine and Pharmacy (Hue University), Da Nang University of Medical Technology, and Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine.

Tourism Industry

According to statistics from the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, with the goal of developing tourism into a key economic sector, the country needs 40,000 skilled workers annually over the next 5-10 years. However, currently, training institutions can only supply about 15,000 people. Thus, there is a significant shortage of personnel in this industry.

Tourism graduates can take on many different job positions: tour guide, tour designer, event and conference organizer; sales specialist, development of tourism and hotel services. For tour guides specifically, the highest salary can reach 30 million VND per month.

Currently, there are many universities nationwide that offer tourism programs. You can refer to the curriculum and information of some universities such as: the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Vietnam National University, Hanoi), Hanoi University of Culture, National Economics University, the School of Tourism (Hue University), and the University of Economics (Da Nang University).

Police and Military Branches

After completing their studies in the Police and Military fields, students will be assigned tasks and appointed to positions by the state. Therefore, it is easy to understand why this field of study is considered to have a high chance of future unemployment.

During their studies, students also benefit from special policies such as support for meals, tuition fees, and clothing, which not all schools can provide.

However, the entrance requirements for police and military forces are quite high, and candidates wishing to participate in the selection process must meet many additional criteria such as health, appearance, family background, etc.

Information technology

According to information on the Polytechnic College's website, information technology, also known as IT, has become a top-ranked field in the enrollment season, with many students and parents choosing it as a career path for the future.

TopDev forecasts that by 2025, Vietnam will need 700,000 IT professionals. The demand for IT human resources is also not expected to cool down in the next 10 years.

Some top universities offering information technology programs include: Hanoi University of Science and Technology, Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology, Military Technical Academy, Vinh University, Da Nang University of Technology, and Ho Chi Minh City University of Education and Technology.

Financial technology

The market size of fintech in Vietnam, in terms of transaction value, is expected to increase from US$34.50 billion in 2023 to US$63.87 billion in 2028. Therefore, this field of study will offer significant job opportunities in the future.

The income of fintech professionals in Vietnam is also quite high, ranging from $400 to $2,600 per month (approximately 10 million to 65 million VND), ranking third among technology industries (according to the Vietnam IT Market Report - Developers Recruitment State 2021 by TopDev).

Currently, universities specializing in training in Financial Technology include: National Economics University, Foreign Trade University, Commercial University, Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics and Finance, Ho Chi Minh City University of Banking...
