According to the draft plan for organizing the 10th grade entrance exam of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, students can register for 8 wishes. Of which, there are 3 regular wishes, 2 specialized wishes and 3 integrated wishes.

Admission is conducted in 2 forms. Students from private schools, continuing education facilities; Thanh An Secondary and High School (Can Gio District) are considered for admission.
High schools in the area will organize entrance exams according to the instructions of the Department of Education and Training, ensuring a balance between the number of registered candidates and the quota assigned to each unit.
The recruitment method is carried out in 2 stages:
Phase 1: Students register for 3 priority wishes 1, 2, 3 to take the entrance exam to grade 10 of public high schools (except Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted, Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted, Ho Chi Minh City National University).
Phase 2: Depending on the actual application situation at high schools and the needs of high schools, the Department of Education and Training will decide on additional enrollment and issue written instructions to ensure the rights of candidates, on the basis of recruiting enough enrollment quotas for schools that are still lacking many quotas.
The 10th grade entrance exam in Ho Chi Minh City will take place on June 6 and 7. Candidates will take 3 essay tests including Math and Literature; test time is 120 minutes/subject, Foreign Language with test time of 90 minutes.
After collecting comments on the draft, the Department of Education and Training will advise the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee to issue a plan for primary school enrollment.
In the 2024 Ho Chi Minh City 10th grade entrance exam, candidates can register for 3 regular 10th grade options at public high schools. Candidates who register for specialized options will only be allowed to register for 2 specialized 10th grade options.
