The People's Council of Can Tho City passed several important resolutions.

On the afternoon of December 10th, the seventh session of the 10th term of the Can Tho City People's Council held its closing session. The session also voted to approve many important resolutions in various fields, creating a legal framework for the city's development in 2026 and the 2026-2030 period.

Over 2.5 days of work conducted in a democratic, serious, and responsible manner, the seventh session of the 10th City People's Council comprehensively and objectively reviewed and assessed the socio -economic and national defense and security situation in 2025, set out tasks for 2026, and considered and voted to approve 37 resolutions across all fields to concretize the orientations and directives of the City Party Committee, creating proactive implementation of tasks in accordance with the local situation.

Accordingly, in 2026, the city will focus intensely on leadership and management; promptly address shortcomings, strengthen inspection and supervision of public services, rectify administrative discipline and order associated with reforming the working style and conduct of each official and employee in departments, agencies, and localities; resolutely handle violations; and contribute to improving the effectiveness and efficiency of the city's state management.

Delegates of the Can Tho City People's Council voted to approve the resolution using an electronic software system.

To decisively and comprehensively implement solutions to achieve economic growth of 10-10.5% or higher in 2026, the implementation plan will be issued immediately after the City People's Council approves the resolution, following the "six clear" guidelines: "clear person, clear task, clear time, clear responsibility, clear product, clear authority".

Complete the approval of the revised Can Tho City Planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050, after the merger, to create new development spaces for the city in the new era; propose additions and amendments to specific policy mechanisms to increase the city's proactive role in implementation and enhance its role as a regional center.

The focus should be on vigorously disbursing public investment funds right from the beginning of the year, especially for key national projects and works; removing infrastructure, legal, and procedural bottlenecks; accelerating compensation, support, and resettlement efforts; and concentrating on resolving outstanding and long-standing projects; reviewing and strengthening the effectiveness of the Public Investment Disbursement Support Teams.

In his closing remarks at the session, Comrade Dong Van Thanh, Standing Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee and Chairman of the City People's Council, highly appreciated the responsible, active, and serious working spirit of the delegates attending the session, the heartfelt contributions of voters in the city, and the responsibility of the City People's Committee and departments in explaining and resolving pressing issues and voter recommendations.

At the same time, we request that the People's Committee of the city, relevant departments, and all levels of government promptly implement the recently passed resolutions in accordance with the law, and effectively address the opinions and recommendations of voters.

Directing agencies and units to review assigned targets and tasks for the 2021-2026 period in order to develop appropriate and timely plans and solutions to successfully achieve the set targets.

Effectively and synchronously implement socio-economic development solutions for 2026 and the 2026-2030 period, accelerating breakthroughs to achieve and surpass the goals, targets, and tasks set forth in the resolutions of the City Party Committee and the City People's Council.

Proactively develop plans for implementing socio-economic development tasks for the period 2026-2030 in accordance with the directives of the Government, the Prime Minister , and the guidance of central ministries and agencies, ensuring they are consistent with reality, the ability to balance resources, and the development requirements of the city in the new period.
