Conference to supplement and update the implementation plan of Power Plan VIII

On the afternoon of July 9, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha chaired an online conference with localities on the promulgation and updating of the Plan for implementing the National Power Development Plan for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050 (Power Plan VIII). Comrade Trinh Minh Hoang, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee attended directly at the Government Office bridge. Attending at the Ninh Thuan province bridge were representatives of leaders of relevant departments and branches.

According to the Power Plan VIII, the additional capacity of concentrated solar power by 2030 is 1,500 MW. The power projects approved in Decision No. 262/QD-TTg dated April 1, 2024 include 156 onshore and nearshore wind power projects with a total capacity of 10,102 MW. At the conference, the Ministry of Industry and Trade asked for instructions on updating and supplementing the implementation plan of the Power Plan VIII for solar power projects that have been added to the plan but have not been considered for inclusion in the implementation plan to complete the tasks assigned by the Prime Minister in Decision No. 500/QD-TTg dated May 15, 2023.

Speaking at the conference, Mr. Trinh Minh Hoang, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, proposed that the Deputy Prime Minister and the Ministry of Industry and Trade consider approving the update to the implementation plan of the VIII Power Plan for projects that have been approved by the Ministry of Industry and Trade for acceptance, EVN recognized for commercial operation, mobilized output and 2 projects under construction, namely Phuoc Thai 2 Solar Power Plant and Phuoc Thai 3 Solar Power Plant. At the same time, pay attention to directing and guiding the implementation process of the connection plan for projects approved by the Prime Minister in the VIII Power Plan in Decision No. 262/QD-TTg dated April 1, 2024.

Concluding the conference, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha emphasized the importance of the Power Plan VIII in the national power development program; at the same time, he requested the Ministry of Industry and Trade to urgently review 154 projects with violations according to Conclusion No. 1027 dated April 28, 2023 of the Government Inspectorate, depending on the level of violations, it can be considered, supplemented, and updated for the next phase. For projects that are still behind schedule in localities, if they fully meet the criteria, are feasible, and comply with the law, the implementation period can be considered for extension...
