Prof. Dr. Phan Trong Lan - Director of the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology, Chairman of the Vietnam Preventive Medicine Association said that HPV is the leading cause of many dangerous cancers, especially cervical cancer - the fourth most common cancer in women worldwide. In addition, HPV also causes anal, vulvar, vaginal, penile and pharyngeal cancers, affecting both men and women.
According to the World Health Organization, in 2019, an estimated 690,000 new cases of cancer were caused by HPV globally, including 620,000 in women and 70,000 in men. Despite effective proactive preventive measures such as vaccination and regular screening, many people in low- and middle-income countries still lack access to these protective measures, making HPV a continuing serious threat to public health.

Most sexually active adults will have been infected with HPV at least once in their lives, although not all are aware of their infection. This silent infection creates a health burden not only for individuals but also for communities and health systems.
Science Poster Exhibition - Connecting knowledge, spreading values
The Poster Exhibition is an important highlight of the conference, promoting research and honoring creative contributions from grassroots health care. More than 20 typical studies were selected, focusing on topics such as: public awareness of HPV, vaccination behavior, epidemiological surveys, health communication.
Some typical topics include: "Current status of knowledge and need for HPV vaccination in women aged 27-45 in Hanoi in 2024", "Practice on HPV vaccination of male students of Preventive Medicine at Hanoi Medical University in 2024", "Research on the rate of Human Papilloma virus infection and some related factors in women aged 18 to 69 in Can Tho city"... Outstanding posters will be evaluated and commended by the expert panel.
