Deputy Director of the Department of Justice, Ly Hong Huan, delivered a speech at the workshop.
The workshop was attended by Mr. Duong Bach Long, Head of the Research Department on Lawmaking, Enforcement and Sector Management, Institute of Strategy and Legal Sciences ; Mr. Ly Hong Huan, Deputy Director of the Department of Justice; Mr. Nguyen Van Lam, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the ward; and Mr. Nguyen Van Dau, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of the ward.
In his opening remarks, Mr. Duong Bach Long affirmed: "The environment is a vital factor, directly linked to the lives of the people. The survey in Gia Loc ward helps us better understand the difficulties at the grassroots level, thereby advising on the improvement of more practical policies and laws."
At the workshop, delegates frankly discussed the current state of environmental management in the ward. For many years, although Gia Loc ward has focused on promoting waste sorting and building green, clean, and beautiful streets, several difficulties still exist: a shortage of dedicated staff, an inconsistent waste collection system, limited funding, and low awareness among some residents.
Representatives from the Ward's Economic, Infrastructure and Urban Planning Department and various organizations suggested that, to improve efficiency, it is necessary to strengthen the community's supervisory role and apply technology in monitoring and collecting waste.
Some businesses have also proposed a model of socialized investment in transfer stations, linking environmental protection with the development of a circular economy.
The workshop concluded with many practical suggestions, providing an important basis for relevant agencies to refine policies and helping Gia Loc ward improve the quality of management, aiming towards the goal of building a civilized, green, clean, and beautiful urban area.
