On the afternoon of April 19, in Hanoi , more than 500 of the best contestants from across the country officially entered the final round of the second Vietnamese Calligraphy Contest.

The contest is organized by Tien Phong Joint Stock Company in collaboration with the Vietnamese Beautiful Calligraphy Club for primary school students across the country, to encourage them to practice beautiful handwriting, contributing to preserving and spreading traditional cultural values.

Launched in November 2024 with the theme "My Dream", the contest attracted more than 100,000 entries from primary school students from 57 provinces and cities across the country.

Notably, there were thousands of entries from students in remote areas and students with especially difficult circumstances. The Organizing Committee selected 500 students with the best entries to participate in the final round.

Each entry is carefully scored and selected by the Jury based on many criteria.

Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Tien Phong Joint Stock Company, Head of the Organizing Committee Bui Van Phuong emphasized: Writing is not only a means of learning, but also a mirror reflecting the soul and personality of each person. The Organizing Committee hopes that the contest will not only stop at a useful playground, but also be a journey to nurture good habits, helping students form perseverance and a spirit of progress in life.

Each entry is carefully scored and selected by the Jury based on the following criteria: accuracy, aesthetics, layout, ability to express content according to the topic and especially the emotions conveyed through each stroke of the letter.

According to the Organizing Committee, to ensure fairness and objectivity in the scoring process, a team of judges including primary school teachers nationwide and members of the Vietnamese Handwriting Club were selected to participate in evaluating the exam from the preliminary round to the final round.

Articles are carefully graded and selected based on criteria of accuracy, aesthetics, layout, ability to express content according to the topic and emotions conveyed through handwriting.

A special point of this contest is that contestants are required to focus on writing standard letters, not accepting creative entries with embellished, twisted, curved, or stylized strokes.

This shows that although students practice handwriting, it is only at a basic level, without having to practice stylized handwriting according to the teacher's instructions, which takes a lot of time. In addition, the correct writing is simply expressed on paper, not framed, causing expense and waste for the family and society.

At the ceremony, the Organizing Committee announced and awarded 1,013 prizes, with a total value of over 500 million VND. Specifically, 5 first prizes; 10 second prizes; 12 third prizes; 20 fourth prizes; 453 consolation prizes.

In addition, the Organizing Committee also gave special prizes to 5 students with difficult circumstances, 2 provinces with the largest number of entries and prizes to schools that actively responded to the contest.
