International cooperation improves the quality of animation training

NDO - In Hanoi , Sconnect International Animation Academy (SAMA) has just held an opening ceremony and signed a comprehensive cooperation agreement with the French Embassy in Vietnam and Gobelins Paris School, continuing to aim to create high-quality human resources for the Vietnamese animation and game industry.

The Opening Ceremony of SAMA Academy was held in the month of commemorating the 65th anniversary of the formation and development of the Vietnamese animation industry (1959-2024), in response to the first "Stream of Aspiration" Animation Film Festival.

In order to expand training programs, international cooperation in education , and strongly promote the development of the Vietnamese creative industry, SAMA Academy has officially signed a comprehensive cooperation agreement with the French Embassy in Vietnam and Gobelins Paris School - one of the world's leading educational institutions in animation training.

Artist John Coven - Director of the Animation Department at Gobelins Paris said: “Within the framework of cooperation, Gobelins Paris and SAMA will work together to organize 4 workshops with topics revolving around the animation industry. Through these sessions, we hope that students will practice their creativity, gain valuable lessons and knowledge. From there, they will have more motivation to create their own truly animated films.”

Specifically, the first workshop will be held in January 2025 with the theme “Storytelling Language in Animation”. With a combination of theory and practical activities, students will grasp the basic foundation of storytelling and gain the confidence to present their ideas, turning their passion for storytelling into reality. The second workshop will focus on discussing “Building and developing animated characters”. The third workshop is “Production management in animation” and the fourth workshop has the theme: “Animation market and current industry trends”.

French Ambassador to Vietnam Olivier Brochet shared: Vietnam and France have become comprehensive strategic partners, on the basis of which they have developed cultural cooperation programs, which emphasize the development of cultural and creative industries, especially animation and visual effects. This cooperation program plays an important role in promoting the development of the animation industry in Vietnam. With extensive experience in the field of animation production, French experts will share their knowledge and experience so that Vietnamese experts, producers and students can access advanced methods, techniques and creative thinking typical of France.

Mr. Olivier Brochet added that within the framework of the "Stream of Desire" animation film festival, there will be 6 French animated films shown for free to serve Vietnamese audiences.

At the opening event "Welcoming the elite generation of artists", Director of SAMA Academy Vu Thuong emphasized: "The Academy aims to provide a comprehensive educational experience from thinking-knowledge-skills and build a fair-civilized-international standard educational environment for Vietnamese students. With the 2-year Media Arts training program, students can choose from 7 majors: Animation production, animation scriptwriting, 2D animation, 3D animation, animation techniques, game concept design and 3D game creation".

The curriculum is built by a team of experts, highly specialized lecturers and guaranteed by the Academic Advisory Board with leading names in the industry, promoting practical experiences for students, supporting talent development and connecting passions across generations. In addition to the training program, SAMA Academy is also committed to supporting students in developing personal projects and participating in community projects.
