Hung Ha - A place that affirms North-South solidarity

According to the History of the Party Committee and People of Hung Ha Commune (Tan Hung District, Long An Province), the name of Hung Ha Commune represents the solidarity and attachment of the people of the North with the people of the South. The word "Hung" means Vinh Hung District (Tan Hung District today was separated from the former Vinh Hung District), the word "Ha" refers to the people of Ha Bac and Hai Hung who came to this land to do new economic activities. The name Hung Ha has an important meaning, affirming the solidarity of ethnic groups, joining hands to protect and build the country.

From hardship

Although it is a commune in the Dong Thap Muoi (Dong Thap Muoi) region of the province, the majority of residents in Hung Ha still retain their original Northern accent, their homeland. After the liberation of the South and the reunification of the country, the Party Committee and the people of Long An set out to rebuild their homeland.

The policy of exploiting the Dong Nai River Delta was a bold and correct decision at that time. People from all over the country were called to reclaim new land.

Around the 80s and 90s of the 20th century, a part of the people from the North (mainly Ha Bac and Hai Hung provinces) came to the Dong Nai area to build a new life, thanks to that, the potential of the Dong Nai area was opened up.

Recalling the days when he first entered the new economic zone, Ha Long Hamlet Chief Nguyen Van Hung said: “At that time, this area still faced many difficulties. There were no roads, the weather was not favorable. We received attention and support from authorities at all levels. To be where we are today is the result of the efforts of the people and the attention and support of the provincial government. Now, the lives of Hung Ha people have improved a lot compared to before. Transportation and irrigation have been developed, and farmers have been transferred science and technology to produce high-tech rice .”

With solidarity and determination, the people of the new economic zone of the Dong Nai River Delta and the Long An government at that time turned hundreds of thousands of hectares of wild land in the Dong Nai River Delta into green fields.

By 1991, the population of the new economic zone in Hung Dien B commune, Vinh Hung district at that time was quite large, requiring the establishment of a new administrative unit to facilitate management and stabilize security and order.

In 1992, Hung Ha commune was established on the basis of separating part of the area and population of 2 communes: Hung Dien B and Vinh Thanh. 3/4 of Hung Ha people at that time were new economic workers, coming from Ha Bac and Hai Hung provinces. Therefore, the commune was named Hung Ha as a reminder of the close relationship between people from 2 regions of the country.

Looking to the future

After more than 30 years of formation and development, Hung Ha is gradually "changing its skin and flesh", people's lives are gradually improving. 99% of the population uses safe electricity; 98.17% of households have solid and semi-solid houses; universal education is well implemented; schools in the commune all meet standards in terms of facilities, 99.8% of people in the commune participate in health insurance and the commune also meets national criteria on health,...

Chairman of Hung Ha Commune People's Committee - Tran Duy Tam said that while previously students had to take time off from school during flood season (instead of summer vacation), schools were made of temporary bamboo and leaves, and teaching was done in 3 shifts, now the school system has been built to meet national standards at all 3 levels. The rate of students graduating from all levels and being admitted to colleges and universities has increased every year.

In addition, the Commune Health Station is fully equipped with facilities, equipment, and medicines. The annual national health programs always meet the targets. The medical staff is gradually standardized to basically meet the needs of service, health care, examination and initial treatment for the people.

The road along the Song Trang canal in Hung Ha commune is under construction.

The commune's irrigation system has been focused on upgrading to ensure irrigation. Up to now, 100% of Hung Ha's cultivated land has a half-dyke, and the whole commune currently has 2 electric pumping stations. The commune also focuses on promoting the application of scientific and technical advances and mechanization in production as well as developing the collective economy, gradually forming a value chain in production.

If in 1996, the production area was 3,600 hectares/year, the output only reached 13,600 tons, then up to now, the rice growing area of ​​the whole commune is 7,700 hectares/year, the output reached more than 42,000 tons.

With the consensus of the people, Hung Ha is in the process of completing the transportation system. It is expected that by early 2026, 100% of the commune's main roads will be asphalted and concreted, creating favorable conditions for people to travel and transport goods.

To have Hung Ha today is the result of the solidarity, unity, daring to think, daring to do of the Party Committee, government and people in the commune. It is not only a testament to the consensus and unity of the Party and people but also a symbol of solidarity of the people of the two regions, the South and the North.
