On October 16, Dr. Nguyen Xuan Bai, Director of Thai Binh Medical University Hospital, said that the hospital's doctors and nurses had successfully performed surgery on a large-sized obstetrical case of uterine fibroids.
This is a particularly complicated case, requiring high expertise and close coordination between doctors in the surgical team. It was thought that the case would have to be transferred to a higher level, but the hospital performed it promptly, which was highly appreciated by the patient.
Previously, on October 8, patient MTT (50 years old, residing in Ninh Binh province) was admitted to Thai Binh University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital with an abnormally large abdomen, severe pain in the lower abdomen, prolonged menstrual disorders accompanied by symptoms of fatigue, pale skin, dizziness, and lightheadedness.

The hospital conducted a clinical examination and performed paraclinical tests and found that the patient had a smooth fibroid tumor under the uterine serosa measuring up to 125 x 101 x 168 mm, equivalent to a 7-month-old fetus. This is a large tumor, compressing the pelvic and abdominal organs, with a high risk of causing dangerous complications if not promptly intervened.
After consultation, doctors from the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology (Thai Binh University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital) prescribed surgery to remove the tumor to avoid dangerous complications... The surgery lasted more than 1 hour, the hospital's surgical team completely removed the tumor weighing nearly 3kg, ensuring absolute safety for the patient.
On the afternoon of October 16, patient MTT said that after surgery, he feels very healthy and is very grateful to the doctors at Thai Binh University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital for their help.
Doctor Nguyen Thi Hien, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, shared that thanks to careful preparation, this surgery was successful. Up to now, the patient has recovered very well, eating, sleeping well, going to the toilet normally again and in just one or two days the patient will be discharged from the hospital.../.
