Currently, the province has 118/132 new rural communes.
Infrastructure breakthrough
Infrastructure is considered the backbone of the province's development strategy. In the period of 2021 - 2025, the total social investment capital is estimated to reach more than 105,000 billion VND, focusing on key traffic works, irrigation, industrial and urban infrastructure. Many key national and provincial projects are being implemented synchronously, bringing about clear spillover effects.
Typically, the Rach Mieu 2 Bridge Project with a total investment of more than 6,800 billion VND is being constructed ahead of schedule, with the main cable-stayed bridge completed on April 30, 2025, and is expected to open to traffic on the occasion of National Day, September 2, 2025. Coastal roads, Ba Lai 8 Bridge, Phuoc My Trung bypass, and a series of intra-regional and inter-regional traffic projects have contributed to breaking the "low-lying" infrastructure situation of the province.
In the field of irrigation and saltwater intrusion prevention, the North-South Ben Tre system is basically completed. Construction of raw water pumping stations, Lac Dia reservoir and water supply systems in key areas are being accelerated. These projects not only ensure water security, but also enhance the ability to adapt to climate change, serving production and people's lives in the whole region.
High-tech agriculture
Determining the main direction of developing high-tech agriculture associated with the value chain, over the past 4 years, the province has formed a concentrated production area, with an area of nearly 4 thousand hectares of high-tech shrimp farming, reaching nearly 95% of the plan. Along with that, the irrigation, electricity and traffic infrastructure systems have been invested synchronously to serve specialized production.
Key agricultural products such as coconut, green-skin pomelo, durian, rambutan, seedlings - ornamental flowers... are reorganized according to value chains, forming growing area codes, applying GAP, organic, VietGAP standards and tracing origin by QR code. Up to now, the whole province has more than 26,900 hectares of high-quality production. Horizontal and vertical linkage models are increasingly widespread, overcoming the situation of fragmented and small-scale production.
The new rural construction movement has been promoted in parallel, with 118/132 communes meeting the standards, exceeding the plan by 1 year. 19 communes have been recognized as model new rural areas; Mo Cay Nam and Cho Lach districts have met the standards of new rural districts; the remaining districts are completing the recognition documents in 2025.
Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Truc Son emphasized: "Mobilizing resources for infrastructure and high-tech agriculture not only helps the province overcome the challenges of drought and salinity and climate change, but also creates a solid foundation for developing the digital economy and green agriculture, aiming at the goal of sustainable development associated with conservation of resources and living environment".
Clean energy development
Another notable achievement is the great strides made in developing renewable energy. Identified as a key economic sector in the future, clean energy in the province is strongly attracting domestic and foreign investment capital.
According to the National Power Plan for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050 (Power Plan VIII), the province has approved a cumulative wind power capacity to be developed by 2030 of 1,100MW (an increase of 93MW compared to the previously approved capacity (2020)). To date, the province has approved 22 wind power projects, with a total capacity of more than 1,100MW. Of which, 9 projects have completed turbine installation, connecting more than 250MW to the grid, contributing to supplementing the national power source and enhancing energy autonomy for the Mekong Delta region. The 110kV, 220kV, and 500kV power transmission systems are being synchronized to release capacity and ensure stable operation.
According to the Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Truc Son, the successful implementation of wind power projects will create a new impetus for green industrial development, attracting high-tech and deep processing industries to the coastal areas of the province. From there, it will create new growth milestones, contributing positively to the country's sustainable energy development strategy.
“With the established foundations, Project No. 03-DA/TU has proven its effectiveness and urgency in organizing the mobilization, allocation and use of resources. To achieve the goal of becoming a fairly developed province in the region by 2030, the province needs to continue to be flexible, innovate thinking in strategic planning, clear mechanisms, and create an open, transparent and stable investment environment. Only then will the pillars of infrastructure, high-tech agriculture, processing industry and clean energy truly become a launching pad for the province to develop in a green and sustainable direction in the future.” (Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Truc Son) |
