Due to prolonged heavy rain and strong water flow from upstream, in recent days, many areas along the banks of the Ngan Mo River in Cam Due commune (Cam Xuyen district, Ha Tinh province ) have experienced landslides, threatening local houses.
Cam Due commune mobilized vehicles and personnel to reinforce the landslide site in Phuong Tru village.
Landslides occurred in the villages of Trung Thanh, Tran Phu, and Phuong Tru. The most serious landslide occurred in Phuong Tru village; in some places, the landslide extended for about 200 meters, encroaching deep into the garden area and causing damage to the outbuildings of Mr. Cao Van Trinh's family (Phuong Tru village, Cam Due commune).
Due to the serious landslide situation, this morning (October 14th), the People's Committee of Cam Due commune mobilized more than 200 people, including police, militia, and local organizations, to reinforce the landslide site at Mr. Cao Van Trinh's family home.
Locals transported nearly 100 cubic meters of boulders, 50 steel mesh fences, and numerous bamboo stakes of various types to reinforce and repair areas of the riverbank that had been eroded.
Over 200 local residents were mobilized to carry out landslide reinforcement work.
Local authorities are expected to complete the reinforcement work at the landslide site in Phuong Tru village this afternoon (October 14).
The immediate reinforcement aims to prevent the risk of riverbank erosion spreading and encroaching on residential areas; in the long term, the local authorities will propose to higher levels and relevant agencies to study and implement solutions to thoroughly address and remedy the erosion, including investing in the construction of a solid concrete embankment.
