iPhone 17's early sale is not necessarily good news for Vietnamese customers

According to many sources confirmed to Tri Thuc - Znews, iPhone 17 is the first generation that Apple officially launched in Vietnam on the same day as in the US or the company's first-group markets. This means that domestic users who need it will be able to buy the product sooner.

This change mainly solves the emotional problem for Apple fans. iFans no longer have to suffer the disadvantage of waiting while users in other countries already own the device. In fact, the iPhone 16 was launched in Vietnam just one week after the US, Singapore or Thailand, not too big a gap.

However, the earlier iPhone launch also comes at the cost of limited supply. Talking to Tri Thuc - Znews , CT, an Apple product management specialist at a major distributor, said that this unit had to "fight" for goods with other Apple partners in the region.

“This year, we are selling early, meaning Vietnam will share the same ‘basket’ with Singapore, Thailand, and Malaysia. They all have a better track record because in previous years they released on the same day as the US. We are the first year, there is no precedent for priority,” said Mr. T.

Apple prepares millions of new iPhones for each new release. However, the quantity is not enough to sell in all markets at the same time. In addition, the production line has many models. Meanwhile, the initial purchasing power is often focused on the Pro/Pro Max models.

Therefore, the company must calculate to distribute products in accordance with the purchasing power of each region. The division of "classes", some countries sell later than others also due to this reason.

According to domestic dealers, Apple uses the “velocity” index, which is the activation rate of the total number of units delivered, to evaluate the performance of each partner. Whoever sells effectively will be supplied with a corresponding amount of additional devices. The same formula is also applied to the scale of distributors and the national market.

In the first year of selling new iPhones on the same day as Thailand, Singapore or Malaysia, Vietnam still has no historical data. According to domestic dealers and distributors, the supply will be difficult to meet the pre-order demand of customers, especially the new color iPhone 17 Pro Max model.

According to many rumors, the upcoming iPhone generation will have many changes. The regular line will be upgraded to a 120 Hz screen. The ultra-thin model will also be launched on the market. The Pro/Pro Max version will have improvements in the camera and back design. These changes are expected to help the line attract customers, creating growth momentum for the Vietnamese mobile industry in the second half of the year.
