According to Xinhua News Agency, the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) said on October 26 that the force was attacked while on patrol, but fortunately no soldiers were injured.
"At approximately 17:45 on 26 October, an Israeli drone bombed a UNIFIL patrol near the village of Kafr Kila. Shortly thereafter, an Israeli tank opened fire on the peacekeepers . Fortunately, there were no casualties or damage to UNIFIL personnel or equipment," UNIFIL said in a statement.

The statement said the incident followed an earlier encounter at the same location, when an Israeli drone flew above a patrol, forcing UN peacekeepers to take defensive measures.
UNIFIL condemned the actions as a violation of UN Security Council Resolution 1701 and Lebanon's sovereignty , saying they endangered peacekeepers carrying out the Security Council's mandate in southern Lebanon.
Israel did not immediately respond to the incident.
UNIFIL positions have been targeted multiple times since cross-border clashes erupted after the Gaza conflict erupted in October 2023. Despite a ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah, Israel has continued its attacks on Lebanon, citing threats from Hezbollah.
