(To Quoc) - Priced at just 20,000 VND per stick, these 3D ice cream sticks, shaped like the Turtle Tower, Temple of Literature, One Pillar Pagoda, etc., are being sought after by young people and tourists in Hanoi.

Recently, on social media platforms, many young people have been posting articles and videos after buying ice cream shaped like famous landmarks in Hanoi.

According to our investigation, the owner of the 3D ice cream cones shaped like famous landmarks in Hanoi is Mr. Ly Hai Hoang Tan, originally from Hue, currently living and working in Hanoi. Mr. Tan said that a few years ago, he learned about ice cream cones with images of famous landmarks being sold in China and creating a "craze" there. Therefore, he conceived the idea of making ice cream cones that resemble famous landmarks in Hanoi to serve both domestic and international tourists.

At his ice cream production facility, Mr. Tan said that the main ingredients for these ice cream bars are ice cream powder imported from Italy, milk powder imported from Thailand, Vietnamese fruits to create flavors such as avocado, durian, custard apple, banana, mango, cocoa powder from Dak Lak, green tea powder from Thai Nguyen, and some types of jam to add flavor.

According to Mr. Tan, he started making ice cream in 2018 and began making ice cream popsicles in various shapes in 2021. In 2023, he launched his local landmark ice cream product with the goal of contributing a small part to promoting local tourism.

"To create ice cream with perfectly printed images of landmarks, I have to visit each location, observe, come up with the design ideas myself, and then mold them into shape. This is the most difficult part of making landmark ice cream," Tan shared.

Making a landmark ice cream takes approximately 2-4 hours.

"Ice cream from a local brand in China is very expensive, about 70,000 Vietnamese dong. This price is not feasible to sell in Vietnam, so I created ice cream with local flavors that suit Vietnamese culture, and most importantly, at a reasonable price. I sell a local ice cream for only 20,000 dong," Mr. Tan said.

Holding up her ice cream cone to take a photo at Hanoi Cathedral with her friend, Nguyen Anh Thu (a tourist from Ho Chi Minh City) said that this was the most special thing about her trip to the North.

“Three years ago, I traveled to China with my family and noticed that most of the famous tourist areas sold ice cream shaped like the landmarks of each place. Each ice cream cost between 20 and 35 yuan, which is about 70,000 to 120,000 Vietnamese dong. Everyone was excited to take photos with the ice cream featuring the iconic symbols at the tourist spots. At that time, I wished that our country also had ice cream shaped like the symbols of famous landmarks or tourist areas. Unexpectedly, this year they are already available in Hanoi, and at a very reasonable price,” Ms. Thu said.

Since their launch, these ice cream bars have received widespread attention and popularity among consumers, especially tourists visiting Hanoi.

Every day, Mr. Tan's system sells between 1,000 and 2,000 ice cream cones. During the recent April 30th - May 1st holiday, the number of ice cream cones sold reached 3,000 at a price of 20,000 VND per cone.

The ice cream is modeled after the Grand Cathedral and Dong Xuan Market.

"I wanted to do something different and unique. The ice creams I make are not just for eating, but also bring spiritual value to each customer. In particular, the ice cream bars featuring landmarks carry the meaning of promoting the image of the capital city, promoting tourism, and hopefully in the near future will become a specialty of Hanoi," Tan confided.
