In recent years, the number of Indian visitors has recorded significant growth from 138,000 in 2022 to 392,000 in 2023 and 501,000 in 2024 - an increase of 2.6 times in just 2 years, currently maintaining a stable position in the Top 10 tourist markets to Vietnam.
For Lam Dong tourism, in the period from 2022 to present, India is considered a new international tourist market, accounting for an average of 1.5% (about 8,000 visitors/year) of the total number of international visitors to the locality and currently showing signs of strong growth in the coming time. Accordingly, the tourism products that the Indian tourist market is aiming for include: Sightseeing tourism, agricultural tourism, traditional cultural tourism, discovery tourism, culinary tourism (vegetarian and vegan)...
To attract this potential source of visitors, previously, the province's localities were also interested in implementing promotional activities and promoting tourism to the Indian market. For example, Binh Thuan province (old) coordinated with the Indian Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City to organize the workshop "Promoting tourism in India - Coastal provinces of Vietnam", the workshop "Introducing Binh Thuan destination to Indian tourism businesses"... Towards efficient exploitation
However, according to the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the problem of attracting tourists from India to Lam Dong is currently facing many difficulties and challenges. These include geographical distance, limited tourist transportation system, while the exploitation of direct flights from India to and from the local airport (Lien Khuong) is not yet developed. On the other hand, international travel companies in the province also face difficulties in connecting tours and tourist routes to India and vice versa due to unfavorable geographical location, having to travel many stages with high transportation costs. At the same time, local travel companies do not have package tour programs and appropriate forms of promotion to attract Indian tourists to Lam Dong...
