The special feature "Sharp Pen, Loyal Heart" consists of three parts: "In Prison," "Sharp Pen, Loyal Heart," and "Bonding Through Love." Each part is a truthful and moving glimpse into the lives and unwavering spirit of revolutionary fighters in colonial prisons, a place seemingly filled only with shackles and chains, yet burning with revolutionary faith, ideals, and a yearning for freedom.

The exhibition "In Prison" showcases the colonial and imperial prison systems used to confine Vietnamese patriots, such as Hoa Lo Prison ( Hanoi ), Con Dao Prison, Kham Lon Prison (Saigon), Chin Ham Prison Camp (Hue), Buon Ma Thuot Prison... Despite the harsh conditions, the communist fighters maintained their faith in the Party and the revolution.
The exhibition "Sharp Pen, Unwavering Heart" focuses on portraying the portraits of 10 patriotic and revolutionary fighters who used their pens to reflect the realities of imprisonment and call on their compatriots to rise up and fight. They are Nguyen An Ninh, Nguyen Duc Canh, Hoang Van Thu, Nguyen Thi Minh Khai, Nguyen Thi Quang Thai, Tran Mai Ninh, Dinh Nho Diem, Thoi Huu, Pham Huong, and Nguyen Minh Van. The exhibition records their poems, articles, and moving letters… written with rudimentary tools and under extremely difficult conditions. These were the "sharp weapons" on the silent battlefield, demonstrating their optimism, indomitable spirit, and unwavering patriotism.
Recreating the life of revolutionary fighters in Hoa Lo prison. |
The final section, "Connecting with Love," recreates the emotional bond between the home front and the battlefront, from letters and poems sent from prison to the borderlands and islands today. Family affection, camaraderie, sharing, and encouragement from the home front are the great sources of strength that enable soldiers to overcome hardships and continue steadfastly on the revolutionary path.
Directed by the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports, this program is an activity that expresses gratitude to the heroic martyrs, while also educating about revolutionary traditions and fostering patriotism in today's young generation, encouraging them to cherish and promote the values of peace and independence that their ancestors fought for with their blood and lives.
The exhibition "Sharp Pen, Loyal Heart" is open until August 31, 2025, at the Hoa Lo Prison Historical Site, 1 Hoa Lo Street, Cua Nam Ward, Hanoi.
