Due to the impact of prolonged heavy rain, many locations on National Highway 14E, the main traffic route connecting the Central Highlands provinces, have experienced landslides, causing congestion and potential traffic safety risks. The authorities are focusing on responding, urgently overcoming the situation, ensuring smooth traffic and safety for the people.
On the evening of November 16, heavy rains occurred in the central and Central Highlands provinces, causing the roadbed on National Highway 14E to weaken. On the morning of November 17, at Km65+500, a landslide occurred at the same time a truck was passing through the area, causing the vehicle to become stuck between rocks and soil.
Upon receiving the information, the Project Management Board mobilized forces and vehicles to approach the scene, rescue the crashed vehicle, clear rocks and soil, and cordon off the dangerous area.
At the scene, the recovery work was urgently deployed from early morning. Excavators and bulldozers worked continuously to open temporary roads. The representative of the Project Management Board said that the units are trying to coordinate and handle the situation as quickly as possible to limit the impact on people's lives and socio -economic situation.
At Km66+400 on National Highway 14E, soil and rock from the positive slope continue to move. Project Management Board 4 and the contractor have deployed forces on duty 24/7 to regulate traffic, install warning signs, and prepare response plans in case of new developments. Measures to reinforce the slope, drain water, and reinforce the roadbed are being prioritized.
The area from Km59+00 to Km59+100 of National Highway 14E also recorded landslides, with weak soil at risk of continuing to slide down the road surface. The contractor has increased equipment and human resources to control the scene, set up barriers, guide traffic flow, and ensure safety for people and vehicles.
Currently, along the entire National Highway 14E, functional forces are working hard day and night. Local authorities coordinate with the police, army, and medical staff to support affected people; provide drinking water, food, and temporary accommodation for those stuck; increase warnings via loudspeakers and social networks, and instruct people not to enter dangerous areas.
The landslide on National Highway 14E once again shows the increasingly complex impact of climate change on transport infrastructure. With a proactive and responsible spirit, the forces are controlling the situation well. If the weather is favorable, the restoration of the entire route is expected to be completed as soon as possible.
Authorities in localities at high risk of landslides have asked people to stay calm, follow instructions from authorities, join hands with localities to overcome difficulties, contribute to ensuring traffic safety and stabilizing life.
