In the face of continuing storms and increased traffic risks in the central and Central Highlands regions, on November 17, the Vietnam Road Administration requested units to increase warnings, traffic diversion and repair damage on roads, and closely coordinate with localities to ensure people's safety.
According to the dispatch, the central and Central Highlands regions have been severely affected by continuous heavy rains, combined with storms No. 12 and 13, causing water to seep into rocks and soil, increasing the risk of landslides and flooding. Weather forecasts show that heavy rains will continue to occur, posing a high risk to traffic safety on roads, especially in mountainous areas and difficult terrain.
To proactively respond, the Vietnam Road Administration requires road management areas II and III; construction departments in Ha Tinh, Quang Tri, Hue city, Da Nang , Quang Ngai, Gia Lai, Dak Lak, Khanh Hoa; project management boards 4 and 5; investors, road BOT project enterprises; and the Vietnam Expressway Corporation to immediately carry out specific tasks.
First of all, units need to carefully check areas at risk of flash floods, landslides and inundation, promptly install warning signs, barriers, arrange forces to guard and guide traffic, to ensure safe and smooth traffic. At the same time, mobilize forces, means and materials on site to quickly fix damage caused by storms and rains; develop plans to divide and regulate traffic, especially on mountainous routes. If necessary, coordinate with traffic police and report to competent authorities to close roads and bridges according to regulations.
The dispatch of the Vietnam Road Administration also requested the construction departments of provinces and cities to advise the Provincial People's Committees to direct the restriction of vehicles, especially passenger cars, from traveling at night or during high-risk times; at the same time, develop reasonable traffic diversion plans to maintain smooth and safe traffic.
For Road Management Areas II and III, it is necessary to urgently guide and support localities to repair damaged traffic infrastructure, prioritizing severely isolated areas. In places no longer heavily affected by storms and floods, units must thoroughly follow the Prime Minister's instructions in Official Dispatches No. 214/CD-TTg dated November 12, 2025 and No. 215/CD-TTg dated November 13, 2025; of the Ministry of Construction in Official Dispatches No. 89/CD-BXD dated November 13, 2025 and No. 91/CD-BXD dated November 15, 2025; as well as Document No. 6325/CDBVN-TCGT dated November 14, 2025 of the Vietnam Road Administration. Continue to coordinate to support localities to overcome the consequences, focus on restoring production and business and stabilizing people's lives after storms and floods.
In addition, agencies and units are required to closely monitor weather forecast information, organize on-duty shifts according to regulations and promptly report to the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue of the Vietnam Road Administration.
