Khanh Hoa gives students 2 days off to avoid storm Kalmaegi

Khanh Hoa Province has asked educational establishments to let students stay home from school on November 6 and 7 to ensure safety from storm Kalmaegi, and has directed the entire province to proactively check dangerous areas and evacuate people when necessary.

On November 5, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee issued a telegram directing localities and units to proactively respond to storm Kalmaegi. According to forecasts, the storm will move into the East Sea on the morning of November 5, with winds of level 13-14, gusts of level 16-17, and may directly affect Khanh Hoa from the evening of November 6 with strong winds of level 10-12, gusts of level 14-15.

Khanh Hoa Department of Education and Training was assigned to instruct educational institutions to let students take two days off on November 6 and 7 and on days of heavy rain and floods. At the same time, schools need to develop a plan to make up for lost time at an appropriate time, ensuring the completion of the school year program. Educational institutions were also asked to review and strengthen their facilities, especially at schools in remote areas with high risk of landslides or flooding.

The People's Committees of communes, wards and special zones are required to inform people to harvest agricultural production early with the motto "green house is better than old field". At the same time, check areas at risk of flash floods, landslides, low-lying areas to proactively evacuate people to safe places, and if necessary, force them to do so.

Urban and tree management units need to check and trim trees that are prone to falling on the roads, to be completed before 10am on November 6. Advertising signs also need to be removed or braced to ensure safety.

In addition, localities are required to deploy guards and checkpoints at culverts, spillways, and areas with deep flooding and fast-flowing water, preventing vehicles and people from passing through. People in low-lying areas should proactively raise their property and household items to avoid damage caused by floods.
