Survey of ethnic and religious work in Chau Phong commune

On the morning of November 5, a working delegation led by Nguyen Huu Thinh, Deputy Head of the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department of An Giang Provincial Party Committee, worked with Chau Phong commune on a survey of ethnic and religious work in 2025. Vo Thi Loan, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Chau Phong Commune Party Committee, received and worked with the delegation.

Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Head of the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department of An Giang Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Huu Thinh requested Chau Phong commune to continue promoting the role of prestigious people among ethnic minorities and typical dignitaries in propagating the Party's policies and the State's laws. Proactively and regularly grasp the local situation, promptly detect and resolve arising problems right at the grassroots level.

Local Party Committees need to strengthen the management of Party members participating in religious activities and admit Party members who are ethnic minorities and religious groups; build a strong national solidarity bloc. In addition, resolutely and strictly handle cases and religious establishments that operate in violation of regulations, contributing to maintaining political security and social order and safety in the area.

Comrade Nguyen Huu Thinh surveyed the traditional Cham brocade weaving facility in Phum Soai hamlet, Chau Phong commune.

After the merger, Chau Phong commune has 12,892 households, of which 1,269 are Cham, living mainly in two hamlets Phum Soai and Chau Giang. The commune is home to the headquarters of the Representative Board of the Islamic Community of An Giang province and has 15 small mosques and churches, with a total of more than 3,500 followers.

The commune also has the following religions: Buddhism with 10,025 followers; Catholicism with 318 followers; Cao Dai with 801 followers; Hoa Hao Buddhism with 14,867 followers.

In general, the ideological situation and public opinion among religious people and Cham people are stable. Religious dignitaries, followers and Cham people agree and trust in the leadership of the Party and the management of the government, especially after the merger of administrative units.

The followers' trust in the Party and the State continues to be strengthened. Religions in the area actively participate in social security and charity activities, contributing to poverty reduction in the locality.
