Sharing at the Conference on implementing activities 2025 organized by Kien Giang Tourism Association on the afternoon of May 23, Ms. Le Thanh Thao - Chairman of Hanoi Travel Association assessed Phu Quoc as a top destination, with full facilities, diverse accommodation options, tourists can combine vacation and work.

However, in the past year, airfare from Hanoi to Phu Quoc has been high, so domestic tourists from Hanoi to Phu Quoc are still few.

Meanwhile, airfare is an important factor that affects travel decisions.

"The most difficult thing from Hanoi to Phu Quoc is the means of transportation. We cannot replace going by car or train like going to Da Nang or Nha Trang. Currently, the most feasible option to go from Hanoi to Phu Quoc is by air.

We hope that in the future there will be more means of transport connecting Hanoi with Phu Quoc, so that travel businesses can diversify their choices and propose more attractive options for tourists."

Ms. Thao also suggested that Phu Quoc should develop more slow tourism packages to give tourists more options, especially with the current trend of tourism requiring quiet experiences, healing, and exploring nature.

Ms. Thao said that Phu Quoc still lacks long-term international tourism packages to serve the long-term accommodation needs of foreign tourists.

In 5 months, Kien Giang earned more than 23 trillion VND thanks to tourism

Also at the conference, Mr. Bui Quoc Thai - Director of Kien Giang Province Department of Tourism said that in the first 5 months of 2025, the province earned more than 23 trillion VND from tourism. Of which, Phu Quoc still plays the leading role.

According to Mr. Thai, 2024 ended with the impressive recovery and development of Kien Giang tourism with over 9.8 million visitors, more than 978 thousand international visitors, total tourism revenue reaching over 25 trillion VND.

"In 2025, continuing the positive growth momentum, in the first 5 months of the year, Kien Giang tourism is estimated to welcome over 5.6 million visitors, an increase of 26.9% over the same period, more than 780 thousand international visitors, an increase of more than 77% over the same period. Total revenue from tourism is over 23 trillion VND.

Of which, Phu Quoc welcomed more than 3.5 million visitors, an increase of 30.5% over the same period, and over 770 thousand international visitors, an increase of 78.3% over the same period," Mr. Thai informed.

Also at the conference, Kien Giang announced the establishment of Phu Quoc Tourism Association.

Kien Giang Province Department of Tourism leader Bui Quoc Thai assessed the establishment of Phu Quoc Tourism Association as an important milestone in the 2025 development plan of the local tourism industry.

Mr. Thai said that this is a specific step to continue improving the quality of activities, strengthening regional connectivity, promoting - advertising - training - innovation in tourism activities.

"This will be the core force, representing the common voice of local businesses, contributing to creating a more professional, effective and sustainable tourism environment for Vietnam's island tourism paradise."

Accordingly, Phu Quoc Tourism Association is headquartered in Phu Quoc City. The association will be chaired by Mr. Nguyen Vu Khac Huy.
