Indonesian authorities have forced a German female tourist to go to a psychiatric hospital for being naked at a sacred temple on the island of Bali.
NDTV reported that after being refused entry to the Saraswati Hindu Temple in Ubud, tourist Darja Tuschinski argued with security guards. The 28-year-old German tourist then stripped off her clothes and walked around the dancers performing at the temple.
The incident happened on May 22 and Bali island police later decided to arrest the girl.
"Tuschinski is also accused of not paying bills at several hotels on Bali. The foreign national suffered from depression due to not having enough money to cover his stay on the island," local police spokesman Stefanus Satake Bayu said on May 26.

Along with the arrest, Bali authorities decided to take Tuschinski to a psychiatric hospital in Bangli town for examination after the German tourist refused to board a plane back home.
Police said the Saraswati Hindu temple was holding a ceremony to purify the premises at the time of the incident. They have so far said they will not press charges against Tuschinski.
Previously, the Indonesian Parliament in December 2022 passed a law "prohibiting pre- and extramarital sex".
The law stipulates that premarital sex can be jailed for six months, while extramarital sex can be jailed for 12 months. However, foreign tourists to Indonesia will not be charged under the new law.
Bali authorities have deported 123 foreign nationals in the first five months of 2023. Bali is also studying regulations to reduce international tourist quotas with the aim of attracting "high-quality tourists ".
"We roll out the red carpet to welcome foreign tourists, but they must comply with all regulations while in Indonesia," said Indonesian Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno.
