Nam Dinh: The driver's compartment of cargo train VNR D13E-722 caught fire while moving through Lien Bao commune, Vu Ban district, on the afternoon of April 6.

At around 2 p.m., fire started to break out in the driver’s compartment, with black smoke billowing hundreds of meters into the air. Immediately after, the crew made an emergency stop and separated the driver’s compartment from the train to avoid damaging the cargo.

Nam Dinh Province police dispatched two fire trucks and dozens of soldiers to the scene. After about 45 minutes, the fire was extinguished. The inside of the cockpit was burned down.

Another driver was dispatched and continued pulling the freight cars as planned.
