Launching the "Moc Quan" reformed opera competition

The contest aims to select the best voices of the Southern amateur music movement, to add to the young actors of the traditional art stage. The contest is also an opportunity for professional and non-professional contestants to meet, exchange, learn, improve skills and knowledge of the history of traditional theater, especially for non-professional contestants, it will be a useful experience opportunity to strive to become professional actors.

The competition will take place at Tay Do Theater and the "Moc Quan - Nguyen Trong Quyen" Memorial Area ( Can Tho City). "Moc Quan - Nguyen Trong Quyen 2023" has 3 rounds: preliminary round (expected on September 22, 23, 24); semi-finals (expected on October 7 and 8); final round and award ceremony expected to take place on November 3.

In the preliminary round, contestants will compete in 2 self-selected vọng cổ verses and a class or some verses from 20 original songs of the Southern folk music art. In the semi-final round, contestants will perform an excerpt from cải lương. In the final round, contestants will duet in the entire vọng cổ verse, and answer questions about the composer "Mộc Quán - Nguyễn Trọng Quyền"...
