Since ancient times, Lach Truong has left a strong mark in the history of the nation as a large estuary, with rivers, mountains and seas blending together. At the same time, this place has a strategic, important position, and was also a bustling wholesale port. According to the book "Hoang Hoa Geography" recorded: Lach Truong commercial port is an important international gateway on the maritime route connecting China - Southeast Asia - India, and at the same time is a gateway to the Cuu Chan district located inland, in the area of the confluence of Ma River and Chu River. Right at the Ngu Giang River with Linh Truong Mountain and Lach Truong estuary, in 1380 Ho Quy Ly relied on the shape of the river and mountains to defeat the army of Che Bong Nga who invaded the country.

In particular, during the days of fighting against the US to save the country, the Lach Truong estuary was the place that marked many typical events, witnessed the brave fighting, the willingness to sacrifice, and the coordination of our army and people in the face of the enemy's bombs and bullets. At 1:30 p.m. on August 2, 1964, the US destroyer Madoc invaded the sea area between Hon Me Island and Lach Truong estuary. The forward command ordered the patrol boat and torpedo boat squadron to attack, and our navy fought back fiercely. The US government used the excuse of creating the "Gulf of Tonkin" incident to deceive domestic and international public opinion. US President Johnson ordered the air force and navy to "retaliate", launching a campaign called "Piercing Arrow".

On August 5, 1964, the US mobilized aircraft from two aircraft carrier formations, including dozens of modern fighter and attack aircraft, divided into 3 waves to suddenly and massively attack our Navy bases, warehouses, and ship shelters along the northern coast from Quang Binh to Quang Ninh, opening the way for escalating attacks on the North.

In Thanh Hoa , at that time, the naval force and militia units of the communes of Ngu Loc, Da Loc, Minh Loc, Hoa Loc of the old Hau Loc district; Hoang Truong commune, the old Hoang Hoa district; Lach Truong fishing militia; Air Defense Company 19 protecting the radar station; Armed Police Station 74... were always ready to fight. The support and coordination of the army and people of Thanh Hoa contributed to the victory with the army and people of the whole country in shooting down 8 enemy planes on August 5, 1964, defeating the "prestige of the US air force", writing the heroic first victory of the Vietnam People's Navy.

Also in the old Hoang Truong coastal area, in October 1967, the Hoang Truong veteran militia platoon made a miracle of shooting down an American plane. This was the first veteran militia unit in the North to shoot down an American plane with infantry guns, and received a letter of praise from Uncle Ho.

After streamlining and merging administrative units, Lach Truong estuary belongs to Hoang Tien commune. In the new song of the day, this estuary is changing day by day, dynamically developing.

Over the past years, with the attention and facilitation of all levels, sectors, and local authorities, and the efforts and struggles of generations of people, the marine economic picture here has been "painted with bright colors". Currently, the whole commune has about 602 means of exploiting aquatic products. The whole commune has more than 2,000 workers participating in fishing activities at sea, dozens of seafood processing and trading establishments...

Mr. Le Van Tung (38 years old, in Lien Minh village), owner of the ship number TH-93144TS, capacity 420CV, was born and raised in a family with 4 generations of fishing, he himself has been in the profession for more than 20 years. His family's ship mainly catches seafood in the Gulf of Tonkin. If everything goes well, on average, each trip out to sea, his fishing boat earns about 200 - 300 million VND. With that income, he is enough to cover fuel costs, invest in fishing gear and pay the crew a salary of 10 - 20 million VND. In addition to fishing activities at sea, his family also has 2 establishments specializing in purchasing fresh seafood with a scale of about 10 tons/month, creating jobs for about 6 - 8 local workers, with an average salary of about 6 million VND/person/month.

Mr. Tung shared: “We are fishermen of Lach Truong, carrying the pride of our revolutionary homeland, so no matter how difficult or harsh it is, we try our best to overcome it, persevere in sticking to our boats and the sea to develop the economy for our families and our homeland and make a small contribution to protecting the sovereignty and national seas and islands.”

The biggest wish of Mr. Tung and fishermen in the Lach Truong estuary is for all levels and sectors to pay attention to building a fishing port here so that after each sea trip, the boat does not have to dock far away to do procedures, saving time and reducing costs.

The desire to assert himself, the will to start a business and the love for his hometown are some of the motivations that prompted Mr. Le Pham Thao (34 years old) to decide to invest in and build the Flamingo Corner seafood restaurant in his hometown's coastal area. The restaurant has a relatively spacious, airy space, with attentive and enthusiastic service staff. Diners coming to the restaurant can choose their favorite fresh seafood and request it to be processed on the spot. For that reason, the restaurant has only been in operation since June 2024, but the number of customers is increasing day by day. Currently, the restaurant creates jobs for 12 local workers. In addition, Mr. Thao's family also has a jellyfish processing facility. His family's Thao Linh jellyfish product has been recognized as OCOP in 2024.

Today, Lach Truong's life is not only bustling with offshore trips, fishing logistics services... This place has become a tourist destination attracting a large number of visitors to revolutionary relics, typical spiritual places such as the monument of the heroic militia, the temple of the great saint - To Hien Thanh, the first victory monument of the Vietnam People's Navy, Hon Bo - Lach Truong spiritual tourism cultural park... Along with that, with a beautiful beach that still retains its wild and liberal features; luxurious hotels, stretching along the coast from Lach Truong to Lach Trao, creating a new look, meeting the needs of tourists when coming to this coastal area. In particular, Flamingo IBIZA Hai Tien City coming into operation has increased the attraction, raising the level of sea tourism here.
