Tien Son Agricultural Cooperative, Mai Tien village, Muong Bon commune, has 21 members who have joined together to grow nearly 7 hectares of vegetables, with an output of over 600 tons/year. Mr. Pham Van Dau, Deputy Director of the Cooperative, said: Growing vegetables according to VietGAP process, members strictly follow technical requirements for seeds, water sources, use of biological pesticides, organic fertilizers, and use of pesticides according to the "4 rights" principle, so the products ensure stable output, meeting consumer demand. The income of members reaches 300-400 million VND/year.

Custard apple is the main crop of Mai Son district with 890 hectares, of which nearly 335 hectares are produced using high technology, concentrated in the communes of Co Noi, Na Bo, Muong Bon and Hat Lot town, with an output of over 12,000 tons of fruit/year, serving the domestic market and export.

In Co Noi commune, the largest custard apple growing area in the district is 762 hectares, of which nearly 300 hectares are grown organically, applying high technology, with a yield of 20 tons of fruit/ha. Mr. Nguyen Anh Thu, Chairman of Co Noi Commune People's Committee, said: The commune focuses on propagating and mobilizing people to change farming practices, apply scientific and technical advances in production, and encourage the development of production models according to VietGAP and organic standards. In response to market trends and consumer demand for clean agricultural products, Mai Son district has transformed its crop structure, built specialized concentrated areas, applied science and technology to production, practiced good agriculture, and created safe products. Farmers in Mai Son district have also changed their coffee cultivation methods towards applying science and technology to production so that coffee trees bring high economic efficiency. Of the total area of ​​9,169 hectares of coffee trees, 1,143 hectares of coffee apply high technology, with over 1,600 households participating, concentrated in 18 villages of Chieng Ban, Chieng Chung, Chieng Dong communes...

Mr. Nguyen Khac Hao, Deputy Head of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Mai Son district, said: The district directs communes to mobilize people to coordinate with enterprises and cooperatives to join in production, processing and consumption of products in the direction of green agriculture, not causing environmental pollution, improving productivity, quality and value of coffee in the domestic and export markets. In the high-tech coffee production area, there are 876 households and individuals associated with the production of 671.4 hectares of coffee with Phuc Sinh Son La Joint Stock Company; 679 households and individuals associated with the production of 368.1 hectares of coffee with Son La Coffee Processing Joint Stock Company.

Mai Son has 11,500 hectares of fruit trees; of which, 1,143 hectares are certified by VietGAP, 5,400 hectares of fruit trees are produced according to the high-tech application model, 2,700 hectares are produced in the organic direction. The whole district maintains 46 growing area codes, with over 1,217 hectares; 5 packaging facilities; 4 high-tech production areas, with a total area of ​​over 1,773 hectares, with 2,333 participating households.

Cooperatives play a central role in transferring science and technology to members, organizing green agricultural production in a chain linking production, processing and consumption of products, creating jobs, increasing income, and improving the lives of members. In 2024, enterprises and cooperatives consumed more than 80,000 tons of fresh fruits of all kinds domestically, with an estimated value of over 1,000 billion VND; exported more than 15,000 tons of dragon fruit, passion fruit, mango, etc. to the markets of India, China and European countries, with a total value of nearly 100 billion VND.

Ms. Cam Thi Khay, Vice Chairwoman of Mai Son District People's Committee, said: Most of the district's main crops are grown on a concentrated scale according to regions suitable for the land and climate, bringing productivity and quality to serve the domestic market and processing and export. The whole district has 20 OCOP products, of which 10 are 4-star OCOP products and 10 are 3-star OCOP products.

In the coming time, Mai Son district will continue to organize training, transfer techniques, support farmers in applying scientific advances to intensive investment; encourage the development of linkage chains, form concentrated raw material areas with suitable areas, increase productivity and product quality, increase production value on cultivated areas, ensure productivity and competitive quality in the market, contributing to sustainable agricultural development.
