On the morning of November 17, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the People's Committee of Lam Dong province, Ho Van Muoi, inspected the scene and directed the handling of the landslide on Prenn pass, one of the gateways to the central area of Lam Dong province.

To ensure safety, from 10am on November 17, Lam Dong provincial authorities banned people and vehicles from passing through the subsidence area on Prenn Pass. At the same time, traffic was diverted through Mimosa Pass parallel to Prenn Pass, or through the route across Tuyen Lam Lake National Tourist Area.

Large cracks appeared in the middle of Prenn Pass, stretching for dozens of meters, encroaching on nearly half of the road surface, from Da Lat down. At the scene, a part of the negative slope had slid down , carrying rocks and trees down, threatening to collapse the entire area.

Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee Ho Van Muoi inspected the scene and directed the handling of the landslide on Prenn Pass.

The initial cause was determined to be prolonged heavy rain combined with weak geology, causing severe soil erosion.

At the scene, informing the Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee, the authorities said that they will hire a professional consulting and survey unit to deploy measures to handle the incident as soon as possible.

Authorities have blocked off the scene and deployed remedial measures to ensure traffic safety.

Due to prolonged heavy rain, water levels in rivers, streams, lakes and dams rose, causing many traffic routes and residential areas in Lam Dong province to be flooded, landslides and trees to fall.

On November 17, the People's Committee of Lam Dong province issued a directive document, requesting departments, branches and localities to focus on immediately implementing measures to respond to and overcome the consequences of natural disasters.

Currently, local authorities and functional forces are urgently organizing forces and means to respond to and overcome floods, protecting people's lives and property.
