Lam Dong needs to unleash resources to create a breakthrough

On March 3rd, Inspection Team No. 1923 of the Politburo and the Secretariat of the Central Committee, led by Politburo member and Standing Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh, held a working session with the Standing Committee of the Lam Dong Provincial Party Committee.

The inspection team included Deputy Prime Minister Mai Van Chinh and representatives from several Party and Government committees and agencies.

At the meeting, the inspection team announced Decision No. 1923-QDNS/TW dated February 14, 2025, of the Politburo on the establishment of the Politburo and Secretariat Inspection Team for 2025 to inspect the Standing Committees of the provinces of Dak Nong, Lam Dong, Ninh Thuan , and Binh Thuan.

According to Decision No. 1923, the delegation conducted an inspection of the following contents: the summary of Resolution No. 18-NQ/TW dated October 25, 2017, of the 12th Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam on "Some issues on continuing to innovate and reorganize the organizational structure of the political system to be streamlined, effective, and efficient" and Conclusion No. 121-KL/TW dated January 24, 2025, of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam on summarizing Resolution 18, in conjunction with the establishment and operation of new Party committees.

The implementation of Directive No. 35-CT/TW dated June 14, 2024, of the Politburo on Party congresses at all levels leading up to the 14th National Congress of the Party, and Conclusion No. 118-KL/TW dated January 18, 2025, adjusting and supplementing some contents of Directive 35.

The implementation and organization of Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW dated December 22, 2024, of the Politburo on breakthroughs in the development of science, technology, innovation, and national digital transformation.

The implementation of Conclusion No. 123-KL/TW dated January 24, 2025, of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam on the supplementary plan for socio-economic development in 2025 aims for a growth rate of 8% or higher.

Reporting to the inspection team, Mr. Tran Hong Thai, Chairman of the Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee, said that in March this year, the province aims to sign the approval for two expressway projects: Tan Phu - Bao Loc and Bao Loc - Lien Khuong; and is determined to implement several key public investment projects such as Dong Thanh Lake and Ta Hoet Lake.

"The province is also determined to attract investment in several projects such as inland ports and logistics areas at Lien Khuong Airport, along with expanding the airport; and to call for targeted investments such as 5-star and 6-star hotels; and high-end shopping areas to improve the quality of tourism," Mr. Thai explained.

Furthermore, the Chairman of Lam Dong province stated that the province is focusing on resolving a number of difficulties and obstacles, proposing solutions for projects with delayed progress, and increasing the disbursement of public investment. In particular, they are addressing overlapping areas of planned exploration, exploitation, processing, and utilization of minerals with two expressway projects, public investment projects, residential land, and social welfare projects.

According to Acting Secretary of the Lam Dong Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Thai Hoc, in the first quarter of 2025, the province will establish an inter-agency team to review 203 slow-progress projects in the area. Projects with capable and committed investors will be continued, while projects with incompetent investors will be revoked.

"Some projects scheduled for implementation in 2024 have not been completed, and we must be determined to complete them in 2025. These include the Tan Phu - Bao Loc and Bao Loc - Lien Khuong expressway projects. From the outset, in the Provincial Party Committee and Provincial People's Council Resolutions, the province has determined that this year's growth must be 9-10%. This is the responsibility and determination of the Party Committee, government, and people of Lam Dong province," Mr. Thai Hoc affirmed.

Attracting investment for development

At the conference, the Standing Committee of the Lam Dong Provincial Party Committee also reported on the implementation of resolutions, directives, and conclusions of the Central Committee that were included in the content of this inspection.

Concluding the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh highly appreciated the sense of responsibility and the comprehensive and detailed report prepared by the Standing Committee of the Lam Dong Provincial Party Committee. The Deputy Prime Minister also highly appreciated the contributions of the delegates from Lam Dong province at the meeting.

Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh instructed that Lam Dong province should continue to build on its achievements while focusing on removing bottlenecks and promoting economic growth; continue to update the new situation, new spirit, and new thinking in the preparation of the congress documents, ensuring that the documents are feasible, specific, and clear. He requested that the province renew traditional growth drivers, seek and promote new growth drivers, leverage Lam Dong's unique potential and outstanding advantages, and remove existing bottlenecks.

"I highly appreciate the will and determination, as well as the leadership capacity and unity of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial Party Executive Committee. Many of the comrades' opinions were very insightful and good, contributing to the tasks of the working group. In some areas, the comrades even went ahead. On behalf of the working group, I highly commend Lam Dong province's proactive spirit in implementation," the Deputy Prime Minister assessed.

"Whatever bottlenecks Lam Dong faces must be addressed promptly. Focus on promoting public investment, acting as a catalyst for investment, and attracting investment for development. In particular, attention should be paid to mobilizing and unlocking the abundant resources still available among the people through appropriate policies so that 2025 will be a breakthrough year for the province," the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized.

According to Mr. Tran Hong Thai, Chairman of the Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee, the existing runway of Lien Khuong Airport... It is 3,260m long, but due to the thin air, it can only accommodate A320 aircraft and smaller.

Therefore, Lam Dong province proposed that instead of just repairing the runway, the province would promote working with investors and propose to the Government a plan to build a new, longer runway, and then return to repair the old one. According to him, for aviation security reasons, this must be accepted, "but if the airport is closed for 6-8 months for repairs for other reasons , it will severely hinder the development of Lam Dong."
