Implementing the Party and State's policy on the arrangement of commune-level administrative units, Nam Thanh commune was established on the basis of merging three communes: Me Pu, Sung Nhon and Da Kai; total natural area of nearly 20,179 hectares; population of 37,377 people, divided into 25 villages.
In the context of many advantages and difficulties, the Party Committee, People's Council and People's Committee of the commune have focused on comprehensive leadership and direction in all fields; mobilized the combined strength of the political system, business community, cooperatives and people; gradually stabilized the organization, promoted potentials and advantages, contributed to the stable development of the socio-economy and positive growth.

Specifically, the economic structure has shifted in the right direction, the proportion of trade - services, industry - handicrafts has increased gradually over the years; agriculture has been maintained and developed in the direction of goods, applying high technology.
Budget revenue in the area reached and exceeded the assigned target; revenue from production and business activities accounted for an increasingly high proportion. Socio-economic infrastructure received investment attention and was gradually completed; rural planning and beautification work was implemented synchronously.
The activities of enterprises, cooperatives and business households are increasingly vibrant, contributing to job creation, income increase and promoting the transformation of the local economic structure. Up to now, there are 99 enterprises, which are companies and company branch representatives operating in many fields; there are 05 Cooperatives and 3 People's Credit Funds; in addition, there are over 1,900 licensed individual business households operating effectively.
The quality of education is increasingly improved, public health care is well implemented, the quality of medical examination and treatment at medical facilities is assessed to have made much progress; care for policy beneficiaries, poor households, and social protection beneficiaries is adequate and timely.
The apparatus of the political system has been gradually stabilized after the reorganization. The work of handling administrative records has been stepped up, regular monitoring and inspection have been carried out, and any shortcomings and inadequacies in the operation of the Public Administration Service Center have been promptly detected and overcome. Political security and social order and safety have been maintained.
Pursuant to the Resolution of the Party Committee on socio-economic development for the period 2026-2030, the People's Committee of Nam Thanh commune determines and orients infrastructure development planning; invests in and upgrades technical infrastructure systems; develops diverse economic sectors; encourages enterprises to expand investment, cooperatives to innovate operating models, and promotes value chain linkages.
Continue to improve the quality of education, health care, culture, social security; build a healthy and progressive cultural life. In addition, direct timely and decisive handling of violations of social order, encroachment on roadsides, and illegal business to create a healthy and safe business environment for businesses and people.
Regarding the work of supporting and accompanying enterprises, cooperatives, and business households, Nam Thanh commune continues to promote administrative procedure reform, apply information technology in handling administrative procedures, shorten time, and reduce costs for people and businesses. Publicity, transparency, creating favorable conditions for people and businesses in business registration, carrying out procedures related to land and construction. Encourage and support the formation of production-consumption chains between business households, cooperatives with larger enterprises or external markets. Develop OCOP products (One Commune One Product Program) and local specialty products.
In addition, regular meetings and dialogues between the government and businesses, cooperatives and business households are regularly organized to listen to and promptly resolve difficulties and problems. Encourage and motivate businesses and cooperatives to actively participate in social activities, support funds for the poor, education promotion funds, and gratitude funds, contributing to ensuring social security in the locality.
