In the joyful atmosphere celebrating the 80th anniversary of the successful August Revolution (August 19, 1945 - August 19, 2025) and Vietnam's National Day (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025), as well as the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries (1975 - 2025), from September 4-6, the Vietnamese Embassy in Greece organized the Vietnam Day in Greece event in Edessa, Pella region.
This is the first time Vietnam Day has been held in this northern Greek city, which has a special connection to President Ho Chi Minh and Vietnam.
The program consisted of two main activities: "Vietnamese Food Festival" and "Vietnamese Film Days". The event quickly attracted the attention of the local authorities and a large number of people in Edessa.
The festival space became vibrant with traditional dishes, handicrafts, and special souvenirs commemorating the 80th anniversary of the successful August Revolution and Vietnam's National Day, which were warmly received by the people.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador to Greece Pham Thi Thu Huong emphasized the special significance of the event as it coincided with the commemoration of important milestones in the nation's history and the diplomatic relations between the two countries. The Ambassador expressed gratitude to the government and people of Edessa for their support and cooperation in making the event a success.
For his part, Edessa Mayor Ioannis Tsepkentzis expressed his honor in hosting Vietnam Day, and affirmed that similarities in history, culture, and traditional values will continue to be a bridge connecting the two nations.
He emphasized that the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations is not only an opportunity to look back on the journey so far, but also to open up a new phase of deeper and more effective cooperation.

As part of the program, the audience in Edessa enjoyed documentaries showcasing Vietnam's development achievements after 80 years of national independence, documentaries about the special friendship between Vietnam and Greece, Vietnam and Edessa, as well as several documentaries about President Ho Chi Minh and Vietnamese feature films that have won awards at national and regional film festivals.
These authentic film clips contribute to giving the Greek public a vivid view of Vietnam today, its people, and the friendly relations between the two nations.
