On the evening of September 20, at Ho Guom Theater, the concert "Vivaldi and Beethoven" took place within the framework of the event series "Essence of Sound" organized by the Hanoi Symphony Orchestra and People's Artist Bui Cong Duy.
Artists at the concert "Vivaldi and Beethoven"
The program opened with Antonio Vivaldi's famous concertos: "Spring" (La primavera, RV 269) and "Summer" (L'estate, RV 315), performed by violinist Chuong Vu, followed by "Autumn" (L'autunno, RV 293) and "Winter" (L'inverno, RV 297) performed by violinist Do Phuong Nhi, in collaboration with the Hanoi Symphony Orchestra and concertmaster Ta Khanh Linh, creating a lively, complete and emotional musical space.
In the space of Part I of the concert, the violin of artist Chuong Vu opened with "Spring" and "Summer" as if bringing the audience into two contrasting natural paintings. In "Spring", the tone is bright and bustling like the chirping of birds, like a flowing stream, spreading a feeling of clarity and vitality. But as soon as he moved to "Summer", the sound of the violin became tense and compressed, depicting the heat and fatigue of a summer day and then exploding violently in a storm - both graceful and dramatic. Through his delicate performance, Chuong Vu made the audience feel every smallest movement of nature.

Next, Violinist Do Phuong Nhi brought "Autumn" and "Winter" with a completely different tone. In "Autumn", the warm, rich folk melody evokes a joyful harvest festival scene, then gently lulls the audience into a deep sleep in the wine. In "Winter", the sound becomes cold and sharp like the cold winds and snow, but also has moments of gentleness and subtlety, depicting the fragile and magical beauty of winter. Do Phuong Nhi's performance style is rich in emotions and images, as if taking the entire audience on a journey to experience the four seasons in full.
The two artists, each with their own musical personality and the story of each generation, together breathed life into Vivaldi's "Four Seasons", creating a vivid picture of nature where the audience not only hears with their ears but also feels with all their senses.
In Part II of the program, the audience enjoyed Ludwig van Beethoven's "Concerto for Three Instruments in C Major, Op. 56" - one of his most unique works, a subtle combination of symphonic and chamber music.
Three soloists – People's Artist, violinist Bui Cong Duy, cellist Denis Shapovalov and pianist Luong Khanh Nhi – together created a trio full of dialogue, both brilliant and profound.
People's Artist Bui Cong Duy
Bui Cong Duy’s violin is clear and elegant; Denis Shapovalov’s cello is warm and powerful; and Luong Khanh Nhi’s piano is delicate and flexible. The three instruments blend perfectly, handling challenging musical phrases with delicacy while demonstrating a deep sense of the piece’s spirit.
Under the precise and inspiring leadership of concertmaster Meritorious Artist Dao Mai Anh and Conductor Honna Tetsuji, the entire orchestra became a solid foundation, fully honoring the harmony and talent of the trio of soloists.
At the end of the show, all the artists and the orchestra brought an explosive encore performance of "Crazy Vivaldi" arranged by artist Denis Shapovalov. The lively, unique and rhythmic performance turned the finale into a grand, energetic one, leaving an unforgettable impression on the audience.
