Lang Son: Prolonged rain, flash flood and landslide warning

Heavy rain caused flooding in Na Sam town, Van Lang district, causing vehicles to stall.

– According to information from the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, Lang Son Hydro-Meteorological Station, from the night of August 1 until now, the province has had moderate rain, locally heavy to very heavy rain. Of which, from 10:00 to 16:00 on August 5, the rainfall in Na Sam (Van Lang district) was 107 mm, other districts and cities have had moderate rain, heavy rain.

It is forecasted that in the coming days, the province will continue to have rain with average rainfall from 20-50 mm, in some places over 80 mm.

Prolonged rain in recent days has caused a high risk of flash floods on small rivers and streams, and landslides in some districts such as Binh Gia, Van Lang, Van Quan, Trang Dinh, Cao Loc, Loc Binh, Dinh Lap, and Chi Lang.

In response to the forecast of prolonged rain, the risk of flooding and landslides, on August 2, 2023, the Provincial Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control (PCTT) and Search and Rescue (TKCN) issued Official Dispatch No. 31/BCHPCTT-VP on proactively responding to heavy rain, the risk of flooding, flash floods and landslides.

Accordingly, the Provincial Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention and Control and Search and Rescue requested the People's Committees and Steering Committees for Disaster Prevention and Control and Search and Rescue of districts and cities to closely monitor developments of heavy rain, floods, flash floods, landslides, and provide full and timely information to authorities at all levels and people to proactively prevent, respond, and minimize damage; deploy shock forces to inspect and review residential areas along rivers, streams, and low-lying areas to proactively relocate and evacuate people in areas at high risk of flooding and landslides; organize forces to control and guide traffic, etc.
