According to the elders, the first inhabitants of the village were people from Quang Nam , Quang Ngai, Quang Binh, and Phu Yen, who followed Lord Nguyen to the South in the 18th century. They traveled on junks, looking for shelter from storms, and were then drawn to the natural beauty and sweet springs from Nui Chua. It was here that they founded the village, initially named Vung Gang and later changed to Vinh Hy, with the hope of an eternal, sustainable life.
After many ups and downs, Vinh Hy fishing village has now transformed dramatically. Mr. Nguyen Thanh Chau, Head of Vinh Hy village, shared that thanks to the attention of the government and the consensus of the people, the transportation system and infrastructure have been invested in and renovated, tourism services have flourished, creating many jobs and increasing income for the people.
"From a primitive fishing village, Vinh Hy has now become a famous tourist destination, welcoming hundreds of domestic and foreign visitors every day," said Mr. Chau, adding that the lives of 748 households with nearly 3,000 people in Vinh Hy are mainly linked to the sea, from fishing, aquaculture to tourism services, thanks to which, people's lives have been significantly improved.
