Lam Dong provincial leaders direct many solutions to respond to natural disasters

On the afternoon of November 17, the leaders of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee issued an urgent document, directing agencies, units and localities to strengthen response and overcoming the consequences of natural disasters.

Accordingly, Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee assigned the Chairmen of the People's Committees of communes, wards and special zones to proactively monitor and continuously update the weather, hydrometeorology, and water storage levels of reservoirs; closely coordinate with units managing and operating dams, irrigation and hydropower reservoirs in the area in regulating and operating reservoirs to proactively take measures to respond to floods...

Units and localities deploy shock forces to inspect and review residential areas along rivers, streams, low-lying areas, and areas at risk of flooding and landslides, to proactively clear the flow of blocked and obstructed areas, minimizing damage; at the same time, have plans to immediately evacuate households from flooded and landslide areas; immediately implement plans and solutions to prevent heavy rains, floods, and landslides in the locality...

Units and localities shall implement temporary measures to prohibit people and vehicles from traveling through locations identified as landslides or unsafe until they are repaired or safety measures are taken; organize traffic diversion, establish alternative routes or limit vehicle loads when main routes are affected...

According to the forecast of the Lam Dong Provincial Civil Defense Command, in the coming days, there will continue to be widespread rain in the province. Rainfall is generally from 20-50 mm, in some places higher than 70 mm, the risk of flooding and landslides continues to occur in many localities...

According to the report of the Lam Dong Provincial Civil Defense Command, from November 16 to 17, heavy to very heavy rain occurred in many areas in the province. The amount of rain measured from 7:00 p.m. on November 16 to 2:00 p.m. on November 17 in D'ran commune was 131 mm, Xuan Truong ward - Da Lat 113 mm, Xuan Huong ward - Da Lat 94 mm...

Due to the impact of prolonged rain, Lam Dong province has suffered some damage to traffic infrastructure and agricultural production. Specifically, at 9:00 a.m. on November 17, on the Prenn Pass in Xuan Huong Ward - Da Lat, there was a landslide and subsidence of 100 meters. Authorities had to close the pass and regulate traffic in the direction of Mimosa Pass and the route through Tuyen Lam Lake National Tourist Area.

At 10 p.m. on National Highway 27C connecting Da Lat (Lam Dong) with Nha Trang ( Khanh Hoa ), a landslide occurred, causing rocks and trees to spill onto the road, burying a passenger bus (in Khanh Hoa province). Currently, traffic on National Highway 27C has been cut off and cannot circulate. In D'ran commune, the slopes at some locations collapsed, causing many trees to fall on National Highway 20 connecting Lam Dong province with Khanh Hoa province. Local authorities have organized to clear trees and level rocks on the road.

At Hiep Thanh commune at 4am on November 17, flooding occurred on National Highway 20 connecting Lam Dong province with Ho Chi Minh City and the southern provinces. The Provincial Traffic Police Department and related units have banned vehicles from passing through this location to ensure traffic safety. In Ka Do commune and Lang Biang ward - Da Lat, flooding occurred on some inter-village roads...

In Ka Do, D'ran communes and Cam Ly ward - Da Lat, rainwater has caused some crop areas to be flooded. Local authorities are inspecting and assessing the damage.
