On September 28, Mr. Lang The Son, Chairman of the People's Committee of Thanh Son Commune, Nhu Xuan District, Thanh Hoa Province, said that heavy rains over the past few days caused a pig farm in the area to be flooded, sweeping away a herd of more than 1,000 pigs.

On the morning of September 27, floodwaters rose and flooded the pig farm of Nhu Xuan Agricultural Development Company Limited, located in Hon Tinh village, Thanh Son commune. According to initial statistics, 1,108 pigs died and were swept away by the floodwaters.

"Of the damaged pigs, about 300 drowned, the rest were swept away by the water to residential areas. The pigs weighed an average of 25-30kg each, with estimated damage of about 3 billion VND. We are mobilizing and propagating to the people, whoever catches the floating pigs should return them to the farm owner," Mr. Son added.

According to Mr. Son, in the past few days there has been heavy rain in the area, the flood water on Hon Tinh stream has risen, the flood has come so fast that the pig farm owner cannot handle it in time.
This pig farm has 14 pig pens, each holding about 700 pigs. By the afternoon of September 28, the water in the farm had receded. The farm owner and authorities are working to resolve the incident.
