" Chuong Thi Kieu has not reached 90% of her physical condition, but that position is very necessary for us. Kieu may not play the full 90 minutes, but there will be times when she enters the field to adjust the defense and remind her teammates ," coach Mai Duc Chung revealed Chuong Thi Kieu's condition.
The central defender of Ho Chi Minh City Club suffered injuries to both knees. She had surgery last September and did not participate in the 32nd SEA Games.
Chuong Thi Kieu has not fully recovered from her injury.
Although she has not fully recovered, Chuong Thi Kieu is still on the list of the Vietnamese team preparing for the Women's World Cup. Chuong Thi Kieu shared: " I am progressing very well now. The recovery process has been quite good. I feel confident about myself . My feeling when participating in this World Cup is the same as competing in previous tournaments. I will try to compete and stay focused as much as possible."
The Vietnamese women's team is in Group E, along with the Netherlands, the United States and Portugal. The opponents are considered to be above the Vietnamese women's team. Therefore, the chances of Chuong Thi Kieu and her teammates gaining points are not high.
" I have watched the friendly matches of these 3 teams. They are strong teams with good physiques. In the past, coach Mai Duc Chung has tried to train us and give us a lot of muscle training. Regarding high balls, our players have always had small physiques. Therefore, the coach has given us a lot of training to counter high balls most effectively, " said Chuong Thi Kieu.
