After bidding farewell to composer Nguyen Ton Nghiem, the delegation visited the home of artist Thanh The – an apartment on the second floor of the Ly Thuong Kiet apartment building in District 11. This apartment belongs to her son, composer Thanh Dung. For many years, she has been living with her son since the death of her husband, Meritorious Artist Buu Truyen.
Actress Thanh Thế suffered from heart disease and had been largely absent from the stage for many years. Her last performing group was the Lạc Long Quân Stage Club, part of the Ho Chi Minh City Center for Performing Arts and Cinema, which regularly performed at the Sen Hồng stage in 23-9 Park. Her final performance was a tribute to her and other female artists: Meritorious Artist Diệu Hiền, Kiều Phượng Loan, Ngọc Hương, and Mỹ Chi, in the program "Roses on March 8th." That night, she portrayed the role of Phàn Lê Huê, earning the admiration of many of her fellow artists and the audience.
Recently, after a fall while descending the stairs of her apartment building on her way to rehearsals, she was rushed to the hospital by her family. "Since then, the specialist has advised me not to perform anymore. Leaving the spotlight makes me very sad; I miss the audience and my colleagues. That time, the Nguoi Lao Dong newspaper reported on my situation, and many colleagues and audience members sent money to help. Receiving this support today is truly touching. This kindness is unforgettable for me," said artist Thanh The.

Artist Thanh Thế was originally a leading female performer at the Huỳnh Long traditional opera stage. She and her husband passed on their skills to many young artists who have been involved with this artistic tradition. Audiences who admire Thanh Thế's talent always remember her leading female roles in plays such as: "Spring Comes to the Peak of Mã Phi", "The Hero Selling Charcoal", "Đào Tam Xuân", "The Goddess Offering the Five Sacred Flags", "Phàn Lê Huê"…
"Now that I'm getting older, every evening watching cải lương (Vietnamese traditional opera) programs on television, tears well up in my eyes because I miss my profession. But with my illness, how can I perform as I used to? I would like to express my gratitude to the devoted audience who have loved me and my husband for many decades. I will forever cherish that sacred feeling," she said emotionally.
