Nurturing creative resources for Ho Chi Minh City theater

From December 1 to December 5, the Training Board of the Ho Chi Minh City Theater Association organized the 2025 Stage Author - Screenwriter Training Course.

Nearly 70 authors, directors, and professional stage actors such as IDECAF Drama Theater, Ho Chi Minh City Art Center, Truong Hung Minh Art Theater, Ho Chi Minh City Small Stage Drama Theater, Ho Chi Minh City Hat Boi Art Theater... participated in this class.

Participating in the lecture were: Colonel - journalist Ton That Quynh Ai (Reporter of the Ho Chi Minh City National Defense and Security Council); People's Artist - Director Tran Ngoc Giau (Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Theater Association); author - director Tran Van Hung (Head of the Creative Committee, Head of the Authors' Association); author - director Tran Dang Nhan; Associate Professor - Dr. Tran Yen Chi and Dr. Vo Thi Yen (lecturers at the Ho Chi Minh City University of Theater and Cinema).

Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Yen Chi teaches at the training class for stage authors and scriptwriters.

The course content covers the core issues of the screenwriting profession in the new context with a system of oriented topics: from the situation of the country - the world , Vietnam's strategic thinking in the new era, to professional issues such as building script ideas, structure - composition, dramatic conflicts, character building and current forms of Vietnamese - world theater.

In particular, the training course emphasizes creativity in content and message, how to exploit conflicts to highlight thematic ideas, as well as the skills to transform ideas into a complete script - the most important step in the journey to forming a theatrical work.

The organization of the annual training course affirms the efforts of the Ho Chi Minh City Theater Association in nurturing creative resources, ensuring that the city's theater always develops in the direction of imbued with national identity - progress - humanity and adapting to the innovation trend of the times.
